I was just thinking about a book board and . . .

Anywho, was looking for a new read and always wanted to catch Neil Gaiman's Sandman, but I have heard it is not for everyone.

Anyone give want to give me some insight into this? Without giving much away of course. There are many versions as well. Not sure I want to read a annotated one at this time nor do I want to invest in a complete box set . . . you guys have a direction on a good starting point?

It's difficult to describe without spoilers, as so much unfolds over the various "chapters." The Sandman story is essentially one big story, according to Gaiman, even though the different storylines seem diverse. It's a story of transformation, I guess. It all does tie in by the end.

Start with Preludes and Nocturnes, then get the next one, then the next if you are hooked. I was hooked by issue 8, "the sound of her wings" and followed it to the end.

It is largely told in vignettes and short stories. There is a larger arc in some ways, but essentially it follows Morpheus' tale from capture to freedom to finding his brother.
