Another Ender Universe book by Card. I loved Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow. I thought the Xenocide books were ok. This could go either way.

Children of the Fleet is a new angle on Card’s bestselling series, telling the story of the Fleet in space, parallel to the story on Earth told in the Ender’s Shadow series.
Ender Wiggin won the Third Formic war, ending the alien threat to Earth. Afterwards, all the terraformed Formic worlds were open to settlement by humans, and the International Fleet became the arm of the Ministry of Colonization, run by Hirum Graff. MinCol now runs Fleet School on the old Battle School station, and still recruits very smart kids to train as leaders of colony ships, and colonies.
Dabeet Ochoa is a very smart kid. Top of his class in every school. But he doesn’t think he has a chance at Fleet School, because he has no connections to the Fleet. That he knows of. At least until the day that Colonel Graff arrives at his school for an interview.

I hope it’s good. Card used to be one of my favorites, but the recent Formic War books he co-wrote were poorly reviewed and I skipped them. Heck, I’m still waiting for him to finish the Alvin Maker series.

Same here. Isn't there supposed to be a sequel for Children of the Mind coming eventually? If I remember correctly, at the end of the book they found the homeworld of the aliens that created the virus on Lusitania but they couldn't communicate with them.

They really weren't that bad. Kind of formulaic, and didn't have that Card "twist" that we are so used to in Ender books. But, as a whole, they've been enjoyable.

I didn't get that far. Once they got off the piggy planet, I stopped reading. They whole concept got a little silly, in my opinion, with the instant travel and the omnipotent computer assistant.
