I usually get most of my books from Amazon, and I think I’m ready to make the plunge into a kindle or something like it. I keep paying double for the print version of each book, and after seeing the kindle prices I think it’s time.

I’m looking to spend 100 to 150 max,; can I find a good one for that? I’ve seen prices all the way up to around 300; seems pretty high but are there any features that may justify that kind of price? I don’t need bells and whistles, just a good dependable reader.

You can get a Kindle Paperwhite for that. Be sure to join your local library to get a ton of books for free. I pay for about every 30 books.

Easily. New Kindle Paperwhite, $139.99.
Best decision I ever made reguarding reading habits. I own and still use the Kindle Voyage and the Kindle Oasis 2 or 3, I forget. Those are both top end models. Do a little reading and you should have a good idea about what fits you best. After you make a purchase, signup with bookbub for a daily list of free and discounted ebooks. Amazon will also send you a daily list if you signup for it.

Same. Although when I got my last property tax bill and saw what the library takes you're still paying for them. You're just paying twice if you don't get them from the library.

I read on my iPad using the kindle app but many of my friends prefer the kindle paper white. It’s easier on the eyes.

Yeah I got the paper white, and I’m loving it. Much much easier on the eyes. I’ve blown through almost 2 full books since Friday

Kindle Paperwhite

another vote for this. I prefer an actual book whenever I can but when I travel I always bring my paper white.

I have had my paperwhite for 10 years. Same one.

It would be one of the three things I would bring to a desert island with me (assuming I could charge it)...but you get the idea.

I LOVE it and use it nearly every night.

I read original Kindles for years. I now read thru a kindle app on a Kindle Fire tablet. It's backlit and I much prefer it.

Nah. I’m OCD about the battery life on my phone, and the paper white lasts weeks on a full charge.

Also the size is closer to a paperback, making it much easier to read.

Should’ve bought one years ago.
