Our last player spotlight is for LSU's lone scholarship senior, John Odo. The 6'10" center is one of three guys competing for time at the 5 spot. Odo played in 28 of LSU's 34 games last season and averaged 5.2 minutes per game. While he doesn't bring much offensively, he is a lanky and active defender.

Similar to Darcy Malone, Odo struggled by putting his opponents on the free throw line far too often. He committed 6.9 fouls per 40 minutes, second highest on the team. Still, he had the best defensive rebound percentage (DReb/OppShots) on the team. His rebounding will be a significant reason why Odo gets minutes this season.

As long as Odo can stay out of foul trouble, he is a good option as a lanky defender who can run the floor. He cannot spread the floor offensively like Malone or even Elbert Robinson III, but he has experience and hustles well to the ball.

What to expect from John Odo:

Odo is a tough player. If LSU is in a dog fight, Odo can really help the depth as an aggressive, rebound first, post player. One of the biggest questions this offseason is how Coach Johnny Jones will play the 5 position, and if Odo is able to step up, he could force Jones to stay big and use him.

I think Odo will play in every game this year. How much he plays is still up in the air. He will likely get significant minutes early, and his SEC minutes will be all dependent on his ability to compete down low with offensive minded centers.

LSU will never ask Odo to do much on offense. He will occasionally get an easy dunk opportunity if his defender leaves him or if he gets very low position with his back to the basket. He has a very basic but effective left handed hook shot (he is left handed). I'd expect 3-6 minutes per game depending on how he looks early in the year defending.
