LSU was able to get freshman Jarell Martin back from injury and Johnny O'Bryant led the Tigers to a 23 point victory. After injuring his ankle 30 seconds into the first game, Jarell Martin had his first extended playing time getting 16 minutes. He Made 3/8 shots scoring 7 points also adding a rebound and a block. Johnny O'Bryant led LSU with 18 points and 10 rebounds. He has had double digit rebounds in each of LSU's first 4 games.

On his birthday, Anthony Hickey had a career night. He received his first start of the young season and scored 10 points, had 7 rebounds, 7 steals, and 6 assists. He only turned the ball over 1 time. The Tigers came out early and took control of the game. 10 minutes in, LSU had a 25-11 lead. They went into halftime up 49-25. However, LSU struggled coming out of the locker room in the second half.

The Lions won the first 10 minutes of the second half 27-13. They dropped the lead to 8 points before LSU took over and finished strong. LSU outrebounded Southeastern 45-29. They also scored 1.22 points per possession (best this year). They shot 63% from inside the arc, but struggled from deep only making 5/18 (28%) from beyond the arc. LSU had their second good free throw shooting game in a row making 20/27 (74%).

LSU got an extra boost from Darcy Malone who recorded a career high 6 points on 3/3 shooting. On the year, he has made all 7 of his shots. Malone also had an assist and two offensive rebounds.

Player Grades:

Anthony Hickey (A+) Hickey was able to do it all. He didn't force anything and ended the game with 10 points on 4/8 shooting. He had 7 steals, 6 assists, and 7 rebounds. He only had 1 turnover and played solid D.

Johnny O'Bryant (B+) Johnny had another double double. His 18 points and 10 rebounds led all players. He added 2 assists, a block and a steal. However he continued to turn the ball over too often in the post with 3 turnovers. His 10/12 free throws was very positive.

Jordan Mickey (B+) Mickey scored 17 points on 8/10 shooting. He had a career low 5 rebounds but added 5 blocks and two steals. Like O'Bryant, he turned the ball over 3 times in the paint that needs to be corrected.

Andre Stringer (A-) Stringer had a very good 1st half and scored all 12 of his points in the 1st. He added 4 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal with only 1 turnover. He made 2 out of 3 from deep.

Jarell Martin (C+) Martin's ankle looked fine, but Martin struggled for most of the game. He played 16 minutes and scored 7 points on 8 shots. He had 3 turnovers, two of which were on early charges where Martin was out of control. He only had 1 rebound, 1 block and 0 assists.

Tim Quarterman (B-) Quarterman played 18 minutes and had a 4:1 ast:to ratio. He also added 4 rebounds and 4 points. Quarterman made both of his 2 point attempts, but struggled from deep missing all 4 attempts.

Shavon Coleman (A) Coleman had 10 points on 4 shots and made 2 of 3 from deep. He also added 3 rebounds, a block, and had a 3:0 ast:to ratio.

Darcy Malone (A-) Malone continued to impress in short stints for LSU. He made all three shot attempts and added 2 rebounds and an assist. He had 0 turnovers. He looked a little slow on defense and fouled 3 times in 12 minutes.

Shane Hammink (D) Hammink had 3 turnovers and 1 point in 9 minutes of action. He did pull down 2 rebounds but struggled offensively and defensively.

John Odo (B-) Odo made both of his free throws scoring 2 points in 4 minutes. He pulled down 1 rebound and had a turnover.
