The Advocate is reporting that LSU backup quarterback Jared Foster will likely miss the 2014 season with a foot injury. He is scheduled to have surgery on Monday.

Foster, an outfielder on the baseball team who joined the football squad over the summer, is suffering from a fracture in his left foot. Rehabilitation is expected to last more than two months. He should return to the team in December.

A team spokesman declined comment Friday.

Foster, a Lake Charles native, was invited to join the football team over the summer after a slew of reserve quarterbacks transferred. He walked on to the football team as a quarterback during his freshman season before dropping the sport and focusing solely on baseball.
After three LSU quarterbacks transferred in the offseason, the Tigers are now down to just two scholarship quarterbacks, sophomore Anthony Jennings and true freshman Brandon Harris. Both players will play against Sam Houston State on Saturday. Jennings will start the game.
