Steve Spurrier Is Not Impressed With Texas A&M's Schedule

Steve Spurrier is at it again...

Yesterday he was talking about Clemson closing their practices to the media, today he was throwing jabs about Texas A&M's schedule. Here is what he had to say per GoGamecocks.com:
quote:

“They haven’t played the bigger teams so their schedule has been a little misleading,” the Gamecocks coach said Wednesday during a speech in front of the Columbia Touchdown Club.

Last year, the Aggies have played Rice, Sam Houston State, SMU and UTEP in their non-conference schedule. Spurrier referred to those team as “barely Division I.”

“I find it interesting that they quit playing Texas,” Spurrier said. “They played Texas 115 years like we have played Clemson and then they left that Big 12 conference and both schools got mad at each other and said, ‘We aren’t going to play you anymore.’ It would be like us and Clemson saying we are not playing anymore. Our whole state would go crazy. The governor would get involved in that.”
The Gamecocks and the Aggies face off against each other in Week 1. Should be a good one.

In our lifetime, Spurrier has gone from the most hated man in the SEC to perhaps the most beloved. Preach on, OBC!!

He should probably pipe down... Furman? Wolford? The Citadel? Clemson is legit, but we can't all play Kentucky every year in-conference. A&M has played LSU and Alabama more times in the last 5 years than USCe has - in spite of only being in the SEC two years...

Truth hurts. A&M still hasn't played a non conference game worth a shite since joining the SEC. To be fair, they have finished 4th and 3rd in the SEC West those years. So, they got that going for them.

I get what he's saying, but I think A & M wants to play Texas and the Longhorns declined. Not much you can do about that. I do agree with him on the non conference schedule.

I love how the OBC doesn't hold his tongue but has he become more vocal lately or is it just me? BTW I agree with him 100% on this one...
