The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) became the first elite institution to scrap diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) statements from its faculty hiring process.

On Sunday, the school confirmed to UnHerd that it was removing a requirement that mandated all prospective faculty submit a diversity, equity and inclusion statement during the hiring process. A university spokesperson told Fox News Digital that "requests for a statement on diversity will no longer be part of applications for any faculty positions at MIT" and added that the decision was made by the school’s president, Sally Kornbluth, with the support of the Provost, Chancellor, and all six academic deans.

"My goals are to tap into the full scope of human talent, to bring the very best to MIT, and to make sure they thrive once here," Kornbluth said. "We can build an inclusive environment in many ways, but compelled statements impinge on freedom of expression, and they don’t work."

The statements don’t work? Or the people they hire don’t work?

Is that the pendulum pausing before swinging right?

Probably not a bunch of minorities with STEM degrees waiting to be hired by one of the top engineering schools in the country/world. Who would’ve guessed?

Standardized tests? “Oops, we were wrong.”
DEI? “Oops, we were wrong.”

What will they admit to being wrong about next?

Other Bama people here, are we protected from this in our State?

If not, we need to adopt this bill.

Black people, being the primary beneficiaries of DEI, will eventually realize that it’s really hard to earn shite the old fashioned way. I expect them to continue to bitch about everything, we can just hope that fewer and fewer people are listening. Looks like that’s happening.

Pendulum has been swinging this way for a while. A little too slowly for my liking but, it’s good to know once it swings in this direction it isn’t going back ANYYYYY time soon.

The fact that these were allowed to be written as compulsory ideological allegiance statements, largely unopposed, for over 10 years in academia as a requirement for admission is totally disgusting and someone should sue the shite out of public universities for it.

I had an orientation with a new grad chem E from MIT.
Haitian immigrant and gay.

He couldn't understand how 401k match worked.
Had it written out, explained to him by HR and myself.
Couldn't seem to understand.
Also, couldn't understand how to lock his laptop, had it "stolen" by instructor.

Amazing how fricking stupid this guy was.

DEI has been strong at MIT.

Math isn’t political. You can either do it or you can’t.

DEI was never about improving society, it was a way to take and hold power. And power would be divided among a group of ethnic and religious minorities who would form the ruling coalition.

When they say it “didn’t work” it means the coalition was too fractious.

Never fear progs, the HR dept is still full of communist and you will be favored over a more qualified non-lunitic.

MIT just said POC aren't as good as white people.

Or else those DEI hiring practices would've been just fine. Diversity would've made them better.

But nope.

Some dumbass leftist downvoting the posts..

This should not be celebrated, it should be ridiculed because who actually thought this was a good idea to start with?
