Commenting on the “in the car thing”.

If I’m ever forced to do that due to certain laws, I take the slide off, mag out and hide the parts in different spots of the car that can’t easily be found.

shield arms makes 15rd mags for it if you want more capacity than the stock 10rds.

Get the extra power spring for it if you notice the last round nit locking back.

OP

Local gun store here will sell you a Tarus 3Gc out the door for $280.

Shoots great. Reliable. The finish may diminish over time taking it in and out of a holster. For that price though and in and out of your truck... who cares.

Canik SC Elite. It’s a wonderful pistol. Under $400, smooth smooth trigger, small enough to take with you but large enough to shoot comfortably.

I'm just here for the comments....

My truck, my life, my rules. If you want to leave a gun in your (locked) vehicle then do it. Anything that lends itself to you being armed when needed is a win. A thief does not get to dictate how I live my life and protect my family. If you can get a console vault, go for it. Don't let that stop you from being armed, however.

I mean, they kind of do. Thieves, robbers, murderers, etc are the reason I have locks on my doors. They are the reason I'm carrying in the first place. They are the reason I feel I have the responsibility to carry and protect myself, my family, and possibly my community. So I'll take it a step further and protect my community by doing everything I can in my power to prevent a bad person from obtaining a gun.

And if someone breaks in your house, do you blame yourself? Using your logic, where does it end? Are you going to give up having any guns in your home because someone might break in?

Your house is less likely to be broken into than your car. People need to understand that the people breaking into cars are pretty much looking for one thing… guns. It’s the easiest way for them to get a gun. It’s not hard to put in a console vault to mitigate a smash and grab.

No, but they are all locked up unless I'm within arms reach. I've got a gun safe. Only one that isn't truly in a safe is in a hidden lock box anchored by a cable. This is all mostly for the kids, but doubles as crime prevention. It won't stop every possible scenario, but its trying as best I can.

As far as the car vs. house, I live in Houston and work in oil and gas. I think the memo is out to thieves that oilfield baws will keep a gun in their console. They seem to target f250's in garages at the companies I work with. Have smash and grabbed several handguns that I know of. I'll never put a gun sticker, come and take it sticker, etc. on my vehicle because I know they look for that. In comparison, Ive never known a single person have a gun stolen from their house.

I certainly agree that your truck is more "likely" to be broken in to. Ultimately there is a "chance" that things can be stolen from anywhere. I will not make decisions on what I do based on those "chances". If those "chances" drive our decision making, then one must consider where you live, drive, park, etc. Chances are, those high risk places aren't somewhere I would be anyway......regardless, I'm going to do what I feel is best to be ready, and fear of theft isn't going to change my behavior.

At home is slightly different. We don't need "ready access" to every tool in our box, so it makes sense that those extra tools stay secured and protected from fire. In a vehicle, it's usually one and done.

Just fyi - they have some great deals at PSA right now. I just picked up a micro dagger blem lower $59 and a complete blem upper for $199. Feel like that's a great deal for a Glock 43 clone truck gun.
