It seems like the importance of the game would suggest it should be Jump, but I don't know if Jay is ready to let him pitch on 4 days rest, with this being his first year back from surgery, and having never done it before.

It could be Herring. I know he's been kept in the bullpen to be a bridge guy, or a closer, but in these circumstances you need to win game 1 by whatever means necessary to get the ball to your horses for the next couple of games.

So if not Jump, I'll go with Herring.

Why not Ack?

I thought of him, and it certainly could be him, but Herring has been so much better, I would rather use Ack situationally. I want LSU to get off to a good start, rather than falling behind, and then going to Herring to keep it close.

He pitched twice this weekend including yesterday for around 40 pitches and around 65 pitches total on the weekend.

Roll the dice if Jump can’t go and pitch Hurd.

Jay didn't rule out Jump depending on how he feels. If he does pitch and we win, I think Jay pitches Wednesday like a midweek game and save Holman for Thursday.

agreed. I do think Jump goes, but probably limited to around 60 pitches...then herring/ack/little....game is that important have to go all out.

Yes, if they beat GA, I look for LSU to start Anderson or Coleman, maybe Heard.

I'm sure they intend to assess Jump's arm Tuesday morning and if they feel he's good to go on short rest they'll hope for around 70 pitches from him. If his arm isn't ready then I'd expect Herring. If we win I think we will throw out someone like Hurd or Coleman vs Kentucky and pitch Holman in the next game
