Here are the current standings relative to getting into the SEC Tournament.

LSU plays their last series against Ole Miss. LSU Trails Ole Miss by 1 game. Two wins By LSU puts LSU no worse than #11 in the SEC at a minimum due to winning the series. and holding the tiebreaker.

Other Relevant weekend series

Alabama(12-15) plays @Auburn(6-21), LSU Leads Auburn by 4 games. LSU Trails Alabama by 2 games. Auburn cannot catch LSU. The only way for LSU to finish ahead of Bama is for LSU to sweep Ole Miss and for Auburn to sweep Alabama.

Missouri(8-19) plays @Mississippi State(15-12)
LSU Leads Missouri by 2 games. Miss State is out of reach for LSU. If either LSU wins 1 game or Mizzou loses 1 game then LSU will be in the SECT based on the tiebreaker rules because LSU holds the tiebreaker on Mizzou.

Florida(11-16) plays @Georgia(16-11)
LSU Trails Florida by 1 game, Like Alabama, Florida holds the tiebreaker vs LSU so LSU has to win 2 more games than Florida to finish ahead of Florida. I think Georgia sweeping Florida is more likely than Auburn Sweeping Bama though I am not sure either is likely.

Vanderbilt(12-15) plays @Kentucky(20-7)
LSU Trails Vanderbilt by 2 games
Like Alabama and Florida, Vanderbilt holds the tiebreaker vs LSU so the only way for LSU to finish ahead of Vanderbilt is for LSU to sweep Ole Miss and Kentucky to sweep Vanderbilt..

South Carolina(13-14) plays @Tennessee(19-8)
LSU Trails South Carolina by 3 games
LSU can only hope to tie South Carolina and that would require a sweep by LSU and Tennessee. As I understand it, he tiebreaker would be record versus highest seeded opponent in the SEC where there is a difference and that would probably end up favoring South Carolina mostly due to Arkansas sweeping us.

In terms of beyond the SECT, A few things come into play. I think if LSU sweeps Ole Miss they probably get an invite. If they win the series, they Probably need to get a couple of wins in the SECT to get an invite.

Another wildcard is how Florida ends the season. If they get swept they will have a losing season overall and barring a run in the SECT they will not be eligible for the NCCAT with a losing record.

From an RPI perspective,

Ole Miss - 24
Vanderbilt - 28
Florida - 29
LSU - 34

LSU could end up jumping all of these if the sweep and the others do not win their series.

I hope LSU does position itself for the NCAA Tournament next weekend, I believe they can do that. But it is hard to look at where we are and not think about all the missed opportunities. Let's hope they can take advantage of the last remaining opportunity this weekend.

Mizzou isn’t out. If they sweep MSST and we get swept by Ole Miss they are in with 11 wins. That won’t happen, but they have a shot. If we win 1 or they lose 1 they can’t catch us because of the tie breaker.

Edit: I see you have that part further down in your summary.

So if LSU, Auburn, Mississippi State, Georgia, Kentucky, and Tennessee all sweep then LSU finishes tied for 7th, or more likely 8th.

Knowing how this season has played out so far, I bet Auburn, Mississippi State, Georgia, Kentucky, and Tennessee all sweep and we don't lol.

So they make the NCAA tourney and bow out on the first weekend. This team is not strong. They are struggling to win 1 or 2 each weekend.

We can hope they make it but that’s about it. They won’t make a run.

I would rather make it and win a couple the first weekend over not making it. If they went Herring, Jump, Holman in a regional they would have a chance. Better to have a chance than not no?

They’d be a 3 seed, playing a 2. Lose and play a 4. Then win and play the 2/1 loser. Eh.

Or

They’d be a 3 seed, playing a 2. Win and play a 1. Lose and play the 2/4 winner. Again…

I just don’t see consecutive good games from this group.

It's the post season and it's baseball. Anyone can be good or bad for a weekend. That's why you want a chance.

The out on the chart just indicates currently out, I should probably note that.

Hard to believe Alabama is better than LSU in baseball. How the mighty have fallen.

Looking at the current standings, there are 6 SEC teams that are in (State and above). There are two out (Mizzou and AU).

I think the SEC will get at least 8 teams in. Would be surprised if we get 10.

So there are six teams vying for the remaining spots.

Gonna be a tension filled tenth weekend.

Nice work, but in the end…it’s really very simple.

LSU has to sweep Ole Miss this weekend. Period. Anything short of a sweep means LSU is out of the NCAA’s unless by a huge miracle, they win the SEC Tournament, which we all know is a 1/100 shot.

No SEC team has ever made the NCAA’s with a 12-18 record.

Meh, I’d say we are about even. We might be a little bit better, but not by much. But the eye test is a bit subjective.
