re: UNC is a complete team !
Posted by SwampyWaters on 6/1/24 at 7:13 pm
A lot of so-called experts have picked UNC to win it all. According to most of the experts, UNC doesn't really a major weakness, so it's hard for teams to beat them....
re: Think I've found a perfect place to retire! How about you?
I feel you about the mountains. I’m probably about 10 years from full retirement, but my wife and I have been looking at Fairhope/Daphne/Spanish Fort area. But damn, property is not cheap there.
I love Fairhope and it's an awesome little town, but the prices are out of sight and on...
May I ask which part of Georgia? I used to live in Chatsworth and Elijay. I still visit that area and throughout the Appalachian Mountains of Georgia and Tennessee.
The weddings have been in Pine Mountain, but I'm seriously thinking further north in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the...
Think I've found a perfect place to retire! How about you?
Posted by SwampyWaters on 6/1/24 at 1:00 am
Most of my life I've spent along the gulf coast and have spent many days enjoying the beautiful beaches and great fishing. I thought for sure that would be the place I would retire, but I think I've had a change of heart.
Over the last month, I've had the opportunity to attend two weddings in ...
re: Snake ID
Posted by SwampyWaters on 5/31/24 at 11:40 pm
About 10 years ago, I had a large pile of leaves that sat there for about 3 weeks. I started a fire and about five harmless snakes came out and one was a corn snake and it was beautiful. Haven't seen one since!...
re: Besides your kids, have you ever loaned money to someone and not been paid back?
Posted by SwampyWaters on 5/31/24 at 11:22 pm
Yes, but I don't worry about it because it's just money. No, I'm not wealthy but we've all gone through rough times and I'm just glad I was able to help someone out. If they pay me back great, but I'm not going to let money destroy my relationships. ...

re: Trump verdict is in- GUILTY on all counts

Total BS and all politically motivated. I'm still voting for Trump, but can he just stop running his mouth at every little thing. ...

Not surprised! It speaks for itself!...
re: Anyone worried about early start?
Posted by SwampyWaters on 5/29/24 at 10:17 am
I understand that we just won two early games , but this is against a team we've never played, and at a site, we've never played at before. SEC teams play at Hoover every year and against opponents we are familiar with because we've played them during the season.
I just find it humorous that most...
re: Dealing with Teenage daughters
Posted by SwampyWaters on 5/29/24 at 10:01 am
My daughter was the same way, but my problem was her mother always wanted to baby her and that didn't fly with me. At least you have your wife on your side. We're divorced now and that was one of the reasons!
I'm old school, but my ex-wife wanted to be her best friend. I told her she had plenty o...
re: Is PB&J not allowed in school anymore?
Posted by SwampyWaters on 5/28/24 at 10:01 am
At my school, it is still allowed because parents at the beginning of the year fill out a food allergy form. If a student can't eat peanuts, they always have another meal ready for them, but they have to notify the cafeteria worker when they get in line. Cafeteria workers are given a list of names o...
Anyone worried about early start?
Posted by SwampyWaters on 5/28/24 at 9:53 am
I hate early starts, regardless of sport. Let's face it, college kids are not early risers and I just hope it doesn't come back to bite us. Most college teams work on a set schedule, such as working out on certain days, hitting and pitching at certain times or days.
It just concerns me because a...
re: Let’s not forget the reason to grill and have a day off work today
Posted by SwampyWaters on 5/27/24 at 6:19 pm
I totally agree. Unfortunately, too many Americans see it as a day to BBQ and get drunk, which is a slap in the face for all the men and women who sacrificed their lives, so we could live in this wonderful country!

re: Hall of famer Bill Walton passes from cancer
Posted by SwampyWaters on 5/27/24 at 6:12 pm
I loved Bill Walton. He was very different, but that's what made him great because you never knew what was coming out of his mouth next. He reminds me of Stuart Scott because he broke the mold of the old white sportscaster reading some bland script by adding his own style with sayings such as , "As ...
re: Complicated marriage/legal question involving finances
Posted by SwampyWaters on 5/27/24 at 5:58 pm
A few questions need to be answered before any solid advice can be given.
Are kids involved? If yes, your situation just took a huge detour. If there are kids, are they with her or you?
She's said she's afraid of you, so why would she say such a thing? Is there any history of domestic violence...
re: BR “Summer of Hope” event cut short because of brawl.
Posted by SwampyWaters on 5/27/24 at 9:44 am
Not surprised at all. This is what happens when you put together a bunch of kids that have never received any discipline or guidance in their homes and they become wild animals! We can continue to blame the police, teachers and elected officials for their actions, but the reality is everything start...

re: The enigma that is Beth Torina
Posted by SwampyWaters on 5/27/24 at 9:22 am
Some of you guys are absolute idiots! Team had an outstanding season and came very close to going to world series and you want to fire the coach! To even come that close is extremely difficult, so my hat off to the coach and the entire team. ...
Vets always test the rookies
It's one thing to test a rookie, but to pull a stunt like that where a player could suffer a severe head injury and a possibly career-ending injury is not acceptable. You only have one brain, so the WNBA needs to suspend that player the remainder of the...
