re: Is this a dumb idea? Natural gas line and generator
The generator should run everything in the house (my dryer, range & oven, water heaters are NG) except the HVAC (4-ton unit), and even with a soft start kit on the HVAC, it would be dicey.
Dang you don't think that thing could power the AC along with everything else? ...

backfeeding your panel is generally always a bad idea.
Why is that? Isn't that what all whole home generators do? I was going to have a certified electrician come in and install the electrical portion correctly because I have no clue what I am doing when it comes to that. ...
Is this a dumb idea? Natural gas line and generator
Posted by thadcastle on 5/21/24 at 9:49 am
I am considering purchasing a Firman 7500W tri fuel generator and running it off natural gas. This is where the issue comes in and I am trying to decide if it is a bad idea. My natural gas line is about 50ft from my electrical panel and there is no easy way to bury a line and install it properly due...

Red beans question
Posted by thadcastle on 5/12/24 at 8:15 pm
I was planning on making red beans tonight but too tired and don’t feel like staying up to finish it. Problem is I boiled the beans this evening instead of doing the overnight soak. Question is can I just let them continue to soak until tomorrow? ...
re: Do yall remember when something being "On Sale" actually meant something?
JC Penny actually changed their pricing a few years back to what those “sale” prices were. Their sales actually went down. They went back to the old pricing and then having it on “sale” and sales went back up.
What I did was use Mint and I set monthly limits on several categories. For example, I calculated what I spend on lunches for a typical month and put that as a goal. I could log in each day and see what percent I was. It takes a little more effort but it's nice to be able to see that I'm curr...
Is there a budget app for daily budget? ETA: Found an app
Posted by thadcastle on 5/1/24 at 5:01 pm
I have a very good idea of what my disposable income is after I pay all bills, monthly expenses and savings. I am looking for an app that will track your budget on a daily $ amount. I would like to look down and see if I am over budget for the day or under. I have an Excel sheet and have tried that ...

Anyone use ChatGPT for healthy recipes?
Posted by thadcastle on 4/24/24 at 3:33 pm
I just started playing on ChatGPT today and it seems like a game changer. You can simply go in and ask for a meal that takes less than 40 minutes to cook, has 25 grams of protein, and 600 calories and the thing spits out a ton of options. Has anyone cooked any ChatGPT recipes to see if they are wort...
