re: What Caused the Historically Low Interest Rates.?
Posted by baldona on 5/31/24 at 11:56 am
Aren't you a grown arse man? Why didn't you do your own research and buy a bigger house?
I was being sarcastic. I was in my 20s, how much home buying experience, interest rate history, etc. do most have in their 20s?
Look, I'm not suggesting taking on a massive amount of debt is...
re: Homeowners denied my roof claim, any recourse?
Mine was 19 yo 30 year roof.
I'm not a roof shingle professional but I can use common sense. A 30 year life span on a roof does not mean that every shingle will last 30 years or that you should wait 30 years for a new roof. That's just a manufacturers average rating under optimal ...
re: Need advice for scaffolding to paint fascia on house
Posted by baldona on 5/31/24 at 10:38 am
Jerry rigging scaffolding is a terrible idea even at only 10-12 ft, imo.
How far off is your bakers scaffold? Most people can reach to 6.5 to 7 ft so you just need to get to 6 ft high? Are you trying not to paint over your head?
At only 10-12 feet a good A frame ladder is really your best bet...

I've never heard of shoftshell crawfish, I love softshell crab. How often do crawfish molt?
ETA: What I mean is, isn't there a month or a time when blue crabs generally lose their shell? I don't cook them often, bu...
Story I heard was that the boat was going into the wind went over a wave and came down with front of boat submerging into next wave. The front popped up like a cork as another wave came and lifted the front high enough that wind caught the boat flipping it over backwards. The 4 survivors were...

I don't know Toledo Bend or that area, but most lakes when the storms pick up you can pop into a cove or other protected area from the wind. Was there nothing like this around? Sounds like the bite was hot and they didn't want to leave until it was too late?
I can see if its raining with hard wi...
My wife likes the Keurig, but these things are super expensive. Can buy a huge tub of coffee (probably 100 cups) for cost of 10 cups of coffee.
Exactly. Yes groceries are expensive and many other things are expensive, but we also spend insanely more on stupid crap. Rice, beans, bas...

Great match fsu, I didn’t get to watch most of it but I was staying tune at my daughters recital with the score updates.
Has anyone ever been to a golf championship? Looks like it would be pretty damn fun, not many fans and you are right up close. ...
re: Ukraine say U.S. tanks are ineffective and armor is useless
Posted by baldona on 5/29/24 at 12:30 pm
We sent them Abram’s because at some point you need a tank to battle a tank in the morale department. The problem is you can’t use tanks to battle infantry and drones without support, and that’s what the Ukrainians are finding out. And the Russians.
Look, we like to shite on the DOD and sending mo...
They also suck with on site management, they just present differently. If I'm in an office I will be less effective. Why? I can't sit weird. I can't make weird noises. I have to make sure I say hi to everyone when I get up. I have to work within the confines of an 8 hour day. I wo...
There are mechanisms for monitoring and managing this remotely. You have to have clear performance expectations and cut people loose when they don’t meet them.
Absolutely. But a large percentage of people suck without on site management. They just do, it’s never going to change....

re: Your college weight and your self-image (for us older folks)
Posted by baldona on 5/28/24 at 5:00 pm
I’m not supporting being overweight or carrying some fat, but look at nature. Most animals that are older have more heft than a younger animal. Take whitetail deer, almost every 3-5 year old is bigger than a 1-2 year old. Stockier is not the same as fat.
I left for college at 172 lbs but I was l...

What are you trying to do OP? Sandy Loam soil or something else? Clay?
The main reason I ask is how hard you will be digging? Sometimes its easier and safer to just follow the line down from your house and then go from there.
Conduit should be run from your home down to at least where it turn...
re: Windlass on an offshore boat

Are you in Louisiana? If you are somewhere like the keys and fish often in 200 ft or less on a larger boat then I think they make a lot of sense.
They are more 1990s though, with spot lock trolling motors and auto pilot ability to use the outboards now to lock in place they just are kinda outdate...

They sell masonry paint as said the Sherwin Williams Loxon is one option. I have a commercial account due to some rental properties I buy a whopping like 10 gallons a year. I bought some Loxon about 2 weeks ago and it went from $89 to $39 with my ‘commercial account’. You may need an ein to set one ...

re: Non-fly fishing, best bait and tackle for trout
Posted by baldona on 5/27/24 at 2:28 pm
You need to make sure you are using good fishing line and likely need to start out with 4lb leader. Some guys even use 2lb but if you are seeing big fish that’s probably too small. A decent quality 4lb Fluoro leader and hide the hook real well with either salmon eggs or corn usually works well. Thos...
