My wife (no pics) inherited a few acres around Choshatta. The platt is not very descriptive, but i do have a few coordinates. Is there a website I could use to find out where it is and what else is around?

Is google maps the answer?

Thanks in advance.

Most counties here in Alabama have a tax assessor maps that you can search either by address, plot id, and perhaps coordinates.

That's what I was thinking. Most of the County appraisal districts in Texas have online maps and you can see each parcel by owner.

XY, Lat long, or meets and bounds?

The plat

Should have section township and range followed by some quarter calls.

Without the document or at least the legal description it's going to be hard to help you.

But,

Quite possibly. It understands lat, long.

google earth is what you are looking for

put in the coordinates and it will show you

google maps doesnt use grid coordinates so that needs a house address to be able to locate it

Coushatta, Louisiana?

If so, go to the Red River Parish Tax Assessor's website.

If you can look up the assessment, they should have it on tje aerial maps.

LADNR SONRIS has a web-based map with S-T-R grid if that helps.

There’s no reason to use Onx if you know the owner.

As said connect to your local property appraiser, they usually have a website. You can search by address, owner, etc.

You can also search by map usually.

I have nothing to add that hasn't been mentioned but this is the first thing that came to mind.

Boudreaux's Daddy pass and he was on the land he inherited.

His buddy from Texas drives by and stops asking. "Whatcha doing Boudreaux?"

"Ah my Daddy pass & he leave we wit ALL dis land."

"How much land did he leave you Boudreaux?"

"Well it go all de way down dare a 150' & all de way down dare another 150'."

"All hell Boudreaux when my Daddy pass he left me so much land it took me all day to drive from one end to the other."

"Yeah man I know what you talkin bout. I used to have me a truck like dat one too."

Get the plat ID and then look on the county ArcGIS site. If they don't have one, the tax assessor for the county should be able to give you a map of the plat.

Call the clerks office for the parish. They can tell you, but if you inherited it through a succession the Judgement of Possession should have the plat description listed out in land jargon.

This. If you have a pretty good idea of where it’s located then you may not even need the plat ID, just search by the former owner’s name. Even better, install Gaia GPS on your phone, download the ArcGIS layer for your county/parish and have live GPS location services as you walk your property.
