I recently went down a YouTube rabbit hole of sea doo fishing near/off shore fishing and now I want to try it. Anyone on here ever near shore fished off a jet ski?

what you dont see in those videos is the beating you back takes getting there and back. its more something for the young that wont be laid up with sore back the next day.

it does look fun, bare minimalist fishing usually always is.

the main drawback is, any type of engine failure, and you are ill prepared to do anything, but wait 24 hrs for coast guard to come look for you

The simplicity and basics maybe why it was so interesting to me….The only electronics I have in my boat is a hand trolling motor. Getting stranded is what makes me hesitant to want to try it.

I’m barely middle aged and after I ride a jet ski for 2-3 hours I can’t move for two days.

That plus I have no desire to fish by myself that much.

Carry an EPIRB if you’re planning to go offshore or anywhere remote where you won’t have reliable cell service.

You couldn't pay me to take a BRP product offshore. Kawasaki either.

There's a reason the guys who make the bahamas run primarily use yamahas.

I bought a street legal dirt bike for scouting on public land and had the same soreness after the first trip but the body gets used to it pretty quickly. Fishing alone is about the only way I fish anymore, when the weather is good and I want to go i go. Tired of trying to make plans to fish haha.

Folks cross the gulf stream from Florida to the bahamas in kayaks and tiny boats as well PWCs and standup paddle boards. It ain't advisable but they do it. I can see going offshore on some days on a jet ski from the south east coast of Florida where the gulf stream is often so close to the hill that catching sails off piers is pretty common, but in those areas getting stranded ain't an issue, getting run over by the traffic is....

Haves seen some here that look like Sanford & Son, not the minimalist in anyway.

I would imagine they are susceptible to being blown around by the wind without the possibility of using a trolling motor.

I don't get this. People are getting like that with their SUPs as well. Getting ads all the time for some SUP with a freaking outboard motor conversion kit... like.. why?

I think one of the fish pro's would be great for surf fishing if you do it alone.

Access to shallow ponds and skinny cuts that boats can’t get to

Cheaper than a boat

Easy to haul and store without having to pay for trailer storage somewhere. If you live in an urban area and don’t have off street parking, live in an apartment, don’t have room for a trailer at your house, or have an HOA that won’t allow boat trailers to be left in a driveway.
