re: The future of the 8-5, M-F, daily work commute?
There are mechanisms for monitoring and managing this remotely. You have to have clear performance expectations and cut people loose when they don’t meet them.
Of they find it's easier to automate remote worker positions and cut them anyway. Which is mostly what's happening now, es...

re: Two images showing why China is surpassing the US

Google "tofu dregs China" and that $11 billion in California will be pocket change compared to what China has wasted. Seriously, if you think China is surpassing the US in infrastructure or technology you are definitely a room temperature IQ sort of person....

re: To those of you that have a workshop/shed....what would you do differently?

If you are planning to do any useful project work in your shop, run some split-wired recepticals. I did this when I rewired my last shop, gives you two 15 or 20 amp circuits at each individual receptical which means you can run a saw and a shop-vac for a dust collector on the same receptical without...
re: I need to cut a corner out of a piece of ceramic tile - help needed
Posted by Clames on 5/24/24 at 3:31 pm
Cheap angle grinder and a diamond tile cutting blade will work much better. Lowes sometimes has the 6A Porter-Cable angle grinder on sale for around $16, a suitable blade might cost the same or a bit less. Ridgid has a 4" - 4.5" tile blade that is excellent for tile work, has a waffle pattern edge y...

I'm planning on a 15x32 and a separate small shed just for yard equipment storage. Should give me enough room to store and work with my tools, I have a personal office for my reloading bench upstairs plus s...
how has it held up?...
Great for me. I use it all the time, I use it to give my vehicle batteries a good top off charge every month or so plus I have other lead-acid batteries in my shop. It's nice having the two-bank charging feature too....
What do you use that has been reliable?
I have an old (1990's old) Diehard "dumb" charger, a DeWalt DXAEC100 charger, and a pair of Clore Automotive float/maintainer chargers. Stay away from Schumacher, mostly junk. If my Diehard ever gives out then its replacement will be an arse...

re: Is this a dumb idea? Natural gas line and generator
Posted by Clames on 5/21/24 at 10:04 am
It will have to be a large flexible line, for that distance and size of generator that's about a 1" diameter iron pipe connection. I would be a bit nervous running a flexible line that far too just as a safety concern....

Well, not as much work harder, just you won't get the effective air flow and run the risk of icing the evaporator. Most systems have the blower after the filter so a dirty...
