Klarvin's senseless babblings are about attempting to exaggerate everything for Doncic, while diminishing other players. It's his usual routine. He attempted to rewrite NBA history to crown Doncic in [link=(https://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/display.aspx?sp=113419765&s=2&p=113417570#113419765)]t...
Heliot Ramos. Over the last week he went 11/22 with 4 HR 10 rbi and a .621 OBP
Luis Matos had a similarly good week in May. 10-22, 2 HR, 16 RBI, 1.318 OPS. NL Player of the Week. Then SF moved him from hitting 5th to leadoff. I didn't like the the move because he showed that he o...
In two games, he has 12 assists and 12 turnovers, and he's shooting below 50% on free throws....
You seem to be confused about team sports. What's your opinion on Doncic's 8 turnovers?...
Strikeouts per game over the past decade are also higher than ever. You have to factor that and "official" scoring on hits and errors. Just going by the time frame of the OPS discussion in this thread, strikeouts per game are up ~33%....
Yes, there are fewer "official" errors than past seasons nowadays. Official is inside quotation marks there because there's a lot of subjective judgment on what's scored an error or a hit. And those judgments more often end up being hits now than in the past. The point is that when a player reache...
I think the + statistics are worth a look for Coors Field and other ballparks that obviously have some impact, but there's also a lot of judgment/subjectivity involved. It's best viewed skeptically in my opinion. On WAR, I prefer actual numbers as opposed to a metric that attempts to estimate "wins...
a good mix of both is best
I agree. But there are also business factors to consider. The steroid era showed that home runs generate a lot of interest, so I think that's a factor, at least for some teams. With those factors, and then the emphasis on home runs in analytics (which we ...
I'd say it's more about Judge being more patient as teams pitch around him because he has been on fire recently. And possibly Juan Soto being a Yankee also....
The point of that part of my post was just to say that it is a more complete statistic than batting average. I'm talking about trends in statistical evaluation and analytics in general. I wasn't applying it to averages being down this year. (Yes, averages are down when compared to other years. Bu...
One of the more impressive things so far to me has been his walk-to-strikeout ratio. Best ratio of his career so far this season. 2016 - .21 2017 - .61 2018 - .50 2019 - .45 2020 - .31 2021 - .47 2022 - .63 2023 - .68 2024 - .76...
You reckon those strangers from Indiana are going to come down from good ol' Rocky Top with a win?...
I think there has been an overreaction to batting average being overvalued in the past. OPS is a more complete statistic (not complete -- more complete) for hitters, but that doesn't mean batting average is meaningless. And it means more for some guys (e.g. Luis Arraez) that aren't power hi...
Yeah, these metrics for basketball are far afield. There are some statistics and analytics that are useful, and then some that lead astray. Some people use these types of metrics thinking that they're being objective, not realizing that some analytics are flawed, or contain subjective analysis. ...

Dutton might benefit from some tweaks to his delivery. It's a good, fluid pitching motion, but it seems sort of too conducive to hitting to me....

I agree on Ackenhausen. And not just tonight, but also in the SECCG against Tennessee. He was rolling in that game, and it wasn't necessary to pull him. Good postseason overall with the Monster game-winners, and other clutch performances. But I think there's a good probability of winning both of ...

The play involving AR was an overdramatic flop. Caitlin Clark has to maintain her poise. She's a phenomenal player, but she's also leading the league in turnovers. AR took a much harder foul on a similar play recently....

I wouldn't be surprised if Waldschmidt gets drafted higher than where they have him rated. Herring also might be underrated because of his bullpen role....
