This needs a closer look, a deeper dive. Now do cities and lets see what that looks like.

These are likely the states with the lowest cost of living as well.

You thought this was clever didn’t you?

Must be a yankee

For one thing the cost of living in those states is much lower than in California, New York etc.
Glad to know it is acknowledged that Trump actually won New Mexico and Georgia and they are red states.

I'd bet there's a fairly noticeable correlation if you want to look for it...

The poor are rich in faith - Poverty is a good thing.

you should probably take a look at the demographics and voting habits of the largest cities in those states

Poverty rate in Los Angeles is over 20%, NYC at 19%

This is like the most educated states are the least diverse.
Outside of wva, they are an outlier though.

Every major population center in Louisiana is run by democrats and has been for decades. We have a two term democrat governor who wields enormous power over the state.
The question should be, why isn’t the state in better shape with so many democrats in positions of power?

Yep...Democrat has won the last 4 Presidential Elections and 7 of the last 12 in New Mexico. Really it is more like 6 of the last 12...because there was less than 0.1% difference in the 2000 election.
