Is that supposed to be a drawbridge?
I see no area for the barge to pass under the bridge to begin with.

Maybe right above the Galveston is the channel?

Dude was way off if so.

How did we go years without any barges slamming into bridges stories and now we can't even go a couple of months? I'm digging my tin foil hat out of the dresser drawers for this one.

How many bridges have been hit by barges in the last few months? Maryland, almost in New York, Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma. No coincidences?

I couldn't quickly find bridge marine allisions in the US for recent years but here is from '92-'01. It is clear they occur regularly and the MV Dali vs Key bridge has just amplified them now.

It has a wider portion for boat traffic, not visible in that picture.
