Getting an extra $12k and retirement benefits

quote:

Rep. Ed Larvadain, D-Alexandria, is sponsoring legislation that would allow Hebert to receive two financial benefits not available to previous chairs of the board: To be able to participate in the state employee retirement system and to receive additional pay of $12,600 a year. Current chairs make about $169,400. Hebert earns $175,011 a year working for the attorney general.

Not a big secret if it's published in the news.

Maybe his plan is to use some of the tax revenue from consumable hemp products to facilitate this salary increase. Oh wait

Larvadain’s House Bill 316 did not include those extra benefits when he introduced the bill or when it passed the House. In an unusual move, Larvadain offered an amendment to add them before the Senate Judiciary B Committee, which approved the change without any explanation of what senators were voting on. Two legislators said the amendment came at the request of the governor’s office.

Larvadain declined to answer questions.

Nah, I guess y’all are right. Not secretive or shady at all.
