It’s a no win situation. You have to take the money. It’s a bad system for sure but the federal government can basically bribe everybody with OUR money. You don’t take the money and You are a despicable human being who doesn’t care about under served kids at $40/kid.
I think about The PPP loans a lot of small businesses got during Covid. Some businesses needed the help some did not, some did better during Covid but all qualified for PPP forgivable loans.
Now we can argue that the PPP loans helped a lot of small business and helped small businesses retain workers or we can say it was a hand out.
ALL of these programs are inflationary as they drive up prices due to the easy money. At some point if we can get adults in charge at the federal level maybe we take a more sensible look at what we are doing and understand what we are doing is not sustainable.
Free anything causes inflation and inflation is a terrible tax on those least able to pay the tab.

I would rather give food to poor Americans than wasting billions in the Ukraine. We are paying salaries for Ukrainians. Feed our poor and have them pick up trash and clean parks in return.

Pretty hard core assumptions on here tonight. The system is so flawed. It keeps the dependent dependent and that’s the issue that has to be resolved.
