IMPORTANT Upcoming Judicial Election 3/26...
Posted on 3/17/22 at 10:22 am

Please pay attention to this month’s district court judge election - whoever is elected will not only take the seat of a highly respected retiring judge but will also hold a position to impact the current rise of violent crime in EBR. The events in broad daylight at the Mall of LA and the cycle of releasing these criminals back on the streets with taps on the wrist should be incentive enough to get you to the polls.
I urge you to do your own research, but here’s what I’ve found regarding all three candidates:
Jordan Faircloth:
LSU Law grad. LSU Baseball player. In defense litigation for 15 years - currently at Taylor, Wellons and previously at Brezeale, Sachse. First time running for office. Message is that he would hold position as a public servant and not a politician. Has expressed the judicial system is outdated and needs someone with the energy to make the necessary changes. This vote would be putting your money on a young buck to shake up the system.
Jenn Racca:
Southern Law grad. Has most name recognition. Message is that she’s the only candidate with criminal litigation experience - though for the last six years she has been a benefits consultant for an insurance company. Appointed to Metro Council in 2020. Controversial council decisions/involvement I’ve found: the apartment complex currently being built behind the Walmart at Bluebonnet and Burbank which will directly impact flooding potential for Springlake/Fairhill and the division of Tommy Spinosa’s Rouzan acreage leading to additional traffic impacting Southdowns. This vote would be giving a promotion to a current council member.
Brad Myers:
LSU Law grad. Retired attorney with 30 years at Kean Miller. Long resume of law achievements. No clear message on how he will improve/change the court system. Backed by “establishment” BR crowd who typically have their hands in political matters. Important to note that he may be limited to only one 5-year term because of his age (65 years old) aka he would be a short-term solution to the seat. This vote would be for those who are satisfied with the current system and not necessarily looking for changes in the judiciary.
Again, please do your research. The financial reports for each candidate are public record and also provide great insight into the people/businesses supporting each candidate.

Torn between Faircloth and Myers on this. Racca is a hard no for me.

I never vote for judgeships. I find the very idea of judicial political campaigns appalling. Any judge that would join a political party lacks good judgement, imo.

I'm 100% backing Jordan Faircloth as he's a good friend and would be a tremendous judge.
Jenn Racca is awful and I hope people don't vote for her just because they've heard her name as a councilwoman. Miserable candidate:
- Covid queen lecturing everyone to stay home, obey, and be quiet about their civil liberties during shut downs
- Too cowardly to vote on Alton Sterling payment...literally just refused to vote...only council member that pulled that stunt
- Took money from red light camera thieves out of Arizona. I don't care if those people fund candidates everywhere, she took $500 from them in council race...gross.
- generally unresponsive to her constituents on metro council and totally unqualified to be on the bench

Why do you hate Democracy?

Because it's a terrible way to run a country.
I prefer our Constitutional Republic.

This right here makes Myers a hard NO vote.

FYI, district court judgeships are 6 years. This is a special election for the unexpired remainder of Morvant's term, which commenced on 1/1/21, so there are 5 years left in this term; however, the next election will be in November 2026, so it is possible he may be under 70 when the election takes place (which is what is important for age qualification - unless you are a black female, then you can be on City Court [Jonelle Matthews]).

As a form of government I totally agree, but tell me what element of a Constitutional Republic gets our officials elected? Go back and take Civics.

Sounds like it’ll be worth the gamble with Faircloth. Is early voting still going on?
Posted on 3/17/22 at 11:12 am to rfk225
I'm not in the district, but if I were my pick would be Faircloth. I've met him before through some friends we have in common (smart, conservatives who are great judges of character), he comes across as a straight-forward type who's tired of being embarrassed by some of what passes for judicial authority around here.

I’d be fine with Faircloth or Racca. I’ve had an opportunity to pick Racca’s brain about a good number of hot button local legal issues as well as some of her counsel decisions. I didn’t agree with everything, but she had very good reasons for her decisions.
She abstained from the first vote because she believed it to be illegal. She eventually voted for the settlement after all of the evidence was turned over regarding the officer’s comments at the scene, the officer’s positive test for cocaine (among other things), a long list of previous illegal use of force problems, and failed his psych eval yet was still patrolling due to political connections protecting him. He never should have been hired let alone patrolling and had a “rap sheet” even longer than Alton Sterling.
Her being soft on the mayor’s lockdowns is why I’m most likely voting for Faircloth. She claims that she was for all masks and restrictions being up to the businesses, but she certainty didn’t fight in the council chamber to override the mayor’s order.

have some friends who had dealings with Myers and they were not happy of the outcome.
Voting for Faircloth, we need someone who is honorable.

Early voting today through Saturday. Election day Saturday 26 March.

There is no element of our constitutional republic that gets federal Supreme Court justices elected, laughing boy. I wonder why our founders felt that was important. I guess they hated 'democracy' as well.

The issue was brought before the council and her job was to vote on it. If the issue was brought before improperly then it’s a judge’s job to rule on it after the fact and nullify the vote.
1. She was incorrect about the vote being illegal (shows poor judgment and understanding of the law).
2. It shows she doesn’t understand what her role is as a council member. It’s certainly not to rule (by abstaining) on the legality of issues brought before the council.

It's not just the mayor's lockdowns. You can literally scroll through her Facebook and read Racca criticizing those complaining about their civil rights being violated..."read this BS study before you complain about your rights"..."stay home save lives"..."Watch Italy!!!" non sense. Awful. NO thank you.

Keyword SUPREME Court. Local level gets treated in a local manner as prescribed by state law. That's how it works. Do you even 10th Amendment?
