I wasn’t big on avoiding GMOs until we went to Europe. The quality of food there is much higher for the most part, including fruits and vegetables, and you can straight up taste the difference. After coming back, we started reading labels more and more.
Compare something imported from Germany to its U.S. counterpart. You will likely recognize every ingredient.

it would be useful to know what's driving this stuff without needing a phD in organic chem.
I agree. There's also very little information from Ag or Gov to ease us retard's minds.
Honestly I don't worry about GMO corn or papayas. I understand the need for better yields. I avoid them because information around them is vague when it doesn't have to be. The loopholes for disclosure are vague when they don't have to be.. and they're loopholes.. 'sup with that?
This stuff makes it's way around social media every few months and I see the same stuff back and forth but nothing definitive either way. I don't want to worry about crap like this. I remember going to the grocery store and just seeing food, not suspect chemistry experiments disguised as food. I miss that.
Every few months we see something in the news about high levels of toxins in this food or that food.. I remember finding out US made baby formula wasn't allowed to be imported into Europe because it didn't meet nutritional standards.
We see stuff like that but never see anything done to fix it, no explanations.. is it contamination or cheap, toxic ingredients? We don't know. We DO know there's agencies that are supposed to be monitoring our food supplies but they apparently aren't.
It all may be overblown. But I think a little caution is warranted. If the industry doesn't agree well.. THEY are the only ones who can clear things up. Until they do I'm just going to assume they're either poisoning us to save money or maybe just for fun.

Only way to get away from all of this bio engineered food crap is to move to Europe. They have very strict laws against this. I have to travel overseas quite a bit for work and the differences in food labels are crazy.

Wanna know why?
Look at all the useless, performative crap that our Congress and President spend their time on just to drive up social media clicks.
These are no longer serious people (if they ever were).

Your Publix sub bread is made from bio engineered ingredients

I grow as much as possible, veggies, berries, etc., don't buy any wheat products (even bread) with the exception of whole wheat pasta. Meat though is still purchased at the grocery stores as is eggs and dairy products. There are still products out there w/o the dreaded "bioengineered" labeling, i.e., Kraft mayo $1.25 at Dollar Tree for one. Watch out for Campbell soups as "they've managed to slip a few past us "label watchers".

where did the top quote come from?

When someone asks the, “what will baffle people of the future question”, my answer is always how unconcerned we are with the contamination of our food supply. In 200 years, I suspect they’ll look back on this age with the same moral disgust we feel towards our ancestor’s past embrace of slavery

I'd like to read this. Any links?

European countries would never allow this shite but here in the US we get the engineered crap.
