Put up another 600 of your own and get a Marathon CSAR.

That is a tough pricepoint if you are ruling out the mainstream Japanese brands. While it is hard to get a mechanical micro-brand now at that price if you can it will almost certainly have a Seiko, Miyota or Chinese movement in it and the rest of the watch will likely be Chinese too.

A Timex, Wenger, Mondaine, Victorinox, Bulova, Raymond Weil, Frederique Constant, Hamilton, Alpina, Mido or Tissot quartz watch would be some of your best bets.

What type of watch are you looking for? Are you limited to where you can buy it or can you buy it from a website like Jomashop?

Wow. Thank you for a recommendation. The 41mm Steele navigator looks awesome.

I can buy it from anywhere and they will reimburse $400. I’ve always loved the aqua terra and always prefer stainless bracelets. Don’t hate the tissot prxs. But I’ve never seen it in person. I even looked at some of the seiko mods that look like APs or a casioak from the vendors on insta. I have to be in love with a watch to pull the trigger. It’s tough to find one at that price point. I tried an Apple Watch a few times but never really liked it. Have a garmin s20 for golf already but it’s old. I’d hate to get a piece of technology that will depreciate as a reminder of something important. Is 15 years important? It really has flown by.

Doubt you'll find a CSAR for $1k or under. Besides, the 17mm thickness and 55mm lug to lug looks like a Tuna can on the wrist for anyone under 8.5 inch wrist.

Nomos Zurich World Time Nachtblau - perhaps the least legible watch that I own, but interesting nonetheless.

Best watch money can buy for sub $400 is a Scurfa Diver 1. Throw in a bracelet and you spend like $380 shipped to your door.

The next batch drops on the 21st. I believe they drop at 11am CT, or really close to there. Since they started putting the actual date online they go quick. The last batch, a few days ago, went in about 15min from what I gather.

I'm really feeling the need for a GMT watch. Some of the ones I'm looking at in no particular order: Rolex Explorer II, GMT Master II, Planet Ocean GMT, IWC Ingeniiur Dual TIme. Explorer II has been the leader because reasons, but lately the IWC has been speaking to me. GMT Master II is unavailable at the AD and overpriced on the gray marker. I like the Planet Ocean but the only version that has both a dive bezel and 24 hour GMT markers only comes on a rubber strap.

Amybody got any thoughts or other suggestions?

Have you seen that new (at least I think it's new) Royal Oak Jumbo Extra Thin with the grainy textured blue dial in 18K WG? It is a real stunner...and only 82K USD lol.

I missed the boat about 10-15 years ago on RO's. Probably shoulda bought one instead of the white dial VC Overseas I bought.

I think Tudor has fixed the issues with their GMT if you like how it looks. It's one of my favorites.
