That's more than any individual model sold today in a total market half the size of 2023's.

*Chevy sold over 1 million Impalas in 1965. And that is still the record and unlikely to be broken any time soon as the market today is so balkanized.

That's production - I couldn't find a stat just for sales. But I presume they sold most of them

Mustang sold 1M in its first year and a half, which is probably some sort of record

I’ve performed a few exercises in that complex myself

ETA: if you had today's battle axes get down on the floor they wouldn't be able to get up, it would look like a Greenpeace training exercise
