Chattn-ooga.

The -an is definitely pronounced but it's extremely short so it sounds like a dropped syllable. Similar to how locals pronounce the New in New Orleans: barely a syllable but it's unmistakably there

As a lifelong resident of middleTN, most everyone I know shortens Shelbyville to to sound like Shebville and Fayetteville to sound like Fedville. But I have never heard Chatta nooga pronounced any other way but this.

I grew up in NGa not far. I remember there being a quick “ah” or “eh” in there.

If you want to get real we referred to it as Chattavegas or the Noog.
