Suggs was a serviceable guard on a mid-tier team. He's not a starter on a playoff team and he just finished his age 22 year. He turns 23 in a few weeks.

You really don't think that Suggs could be a starter on a playoff team?

quote:

His PER was 14.1. After his huge leap in his age 22 season, his PER was below the league average.

Is Herb Jones a starter on a playoff team? His PER was 13.2 this season.

Suggs is a lockdown guard who hits open shots and moves the ball, similar to KCP.

I agree that he's not a lead guard, but he's definitely starter level. He's also a bit redundant if we're keeping Herb (which we should be).

Suggs shot a sub 30% in the playoffs from deep. He still has a lot to prove as a shooter.

Yea, that was a pretty wild take.

And SFP kept harping on Suggs being 22, yet we just saw Herb take a huge leap at 25. Seems like SFP was insinuating he's done getting better, which is weird.

Right. Top 5 wing defender who can shoot the 3 at or near 40% will always have a role and get minutes and can be a starter as well.

And Herb shot 33%, they both have things to prove about their shooting.

Now imagine having both on the floor at the same time trying to space for Zion. See?

What scares me is Willie would advocate for getting a guy like Suggs- who likely takes even more playtime from Hawkins and makes our offense worse.

I think you're misinterpreting my post. I was just shitting on SFP's take. I have zero opinion on Suggs' fit with this team, I even said he's a bit redundant with Herb.

It needed to be brought up as a possibility. you know Willie is dying to put up a Dyson, Suggs, Herb, Zion, and Larry lineup.

With an even shittier take, no less. Well-done.

I would lose my shite if Griffin did this. Holy late-lottery purgatory, Batman!

I'd rather just trade BI for Duren +2nds and keep the cap space at that point.

Do you ever just go around and ask people to punch you in the dick? That's basically what you're advocating for here.

Well, Herb is a better defender and shot better in the playoffs, sooooooo......

Also, you're not trading Herb for a poor shooter, you're talking about adding another extremely limited offensive player for one of the only guys on our team that can effectively initiate offense. SFP is correct that he's a rotation piece. You're turning a dollar into a handful of dimes.

You basically kept moving the goalposts on SFP, then tried to claim victory.

It's as much that I just don't think any of those three moves the needle positively.

Are you autistic? I was just pointing out that SFP was wrong that Suggs is not a starter level player on a playoff team. He tried to user PER as a stat that proved that. It was a bad take.

Dude, you're over here arguing semantics with the guy and calling me autistic. Both Herb and Suggs are borderline playoff starters, but Suggs is not a great fit here.

I will agree with that. PER is a shitty pseudo-stat.
