Whst do you like about Duren? He's a bad defender and can't shoot

If they're going for a rebuild, I doubt they want Ingram.

So what could we give them?

They can rebuild but owing picks and swaps to the Spurs the next two years due to the Murray trade makes that questionable as hell.

I'm guessing this is just subterfuge. The previous sales pitch was "Somebody please take this team cancer off our hands." Now they can say "We got the #1 pick. It was fun while it lasted, but it's time to move on from Trae. There's absolutely nothing wrong with him so you should give us a lot of stuff for him...or best offer."

I don’t see how the Hawks CAN rebuild given the pick situation unless they get picks back that could be very high.

I’d say it’s more likely they make trades for vets to make the team fit better now.

Trading Trae and Murray should get them back young guys and picks. I think Hawks ownership is done with these high salaries and wants to start over.

Except they don’t own their 2025 pick at all and the Spurs have swap rights for 2026.

Tanking when you definitely don’t have your own pick seems dumb unless they cut a deal with San Antonio to move back in exchange for some of their own picks back.

I don’t know but if they decide to bottom out SA is sitting in a gold mine .

Bad to worse for the Pels .

It’s really an ownership doesn’t want to pay high salaries over the common competitive thing. I agree its dumb but sometimes ownership does what it wants.

Hawks’ payroll is not the worst one out there.

They have 12 guys under contract and are $8m below the tax. And they could probably flip Capela and Bogdan for cap relief if needed.

Ingram to Houston

#3 and Herb to Atlanta

Trae, Capella and Smith Jr to Pels

Some iteration of that, add picks where needed

Then Atlanta can flip Murray back to Spurs for their two picks back and start their rebuild with two top 3 picks

Pels would have to add about $13m in additional ballast to make this work, which likely means Nance and a small contract.

Its not but again its ownership not wanting to pay high salaries for a play in team. I think they’ve set their minds on a rebuild and frankly don’t want to live in NBA purgatory. I also think the GM might want to start over instead of focusing everything around Trae. When you have the first pick you sell your fan base that this is a young growing team and focus around Jalen Johnson and Sarr.

Well there's also the issue that Trae puts you in purgatory

I'm not a Trae fan, but I'll pull for him with all my might if they trade for him.

I'm not so sure him with Zion would be a bad fit because he does push in transition, has to be accounted for from three, but sucks arse defensively. I think if you do this, you have to move CJ too because you can't have both of them on your perimeter, defensively.

What do we think about looking at Zach Edey as a backup C at one of the first round picks? He can't be worst than JV at pick and roll D, but can probably rebound just as well. This could put Larry playing backup 4.

What can be done for starting C?

BI to Hawks

Trae and Jarrett Allen to Pels

CJ to Magic

Isaac and 2 Magic 1st to Cavs.
Mobley and Isaac would be a nice 4/5 combo.

Why would the Magic do this?

I'd rather just trade BI for Duren +2nds and keep the cap space at that point.

Or Allen for BI.

Adding Trae and subtracting CJ does absolutely nothing for us.

We need a PG, C, and another shooter.

Adding a PG makes CJ better
Adding a center makes everyone better
Taking away CJ does nothing but hurt us as of now.

Why do we have to trade CJ, Herb, etccc to "get better".

So sick of this shite. Use the fricking picks we have and stop trading away talent.
