Dyson is likely one of the worst finishing players on our team

64% at the rim
53% from 3-10 feet.

The 53% is actually the best on the team.
Zion has never been above 43% from 3-10’ out, BI never over 45%.
Zion, BI, Trey and Herb are all at 70%+ at the rim though so Dyson needs improvement there.

If Dyson worked on his handle more and could penetrate better, he’d be a great PG. I’d love to see him play a more traditional PG role and have some action with Zion rolling to the rim and let Dyson hit his floater if it’s there.
And if he could hit threes from the wings and top of the key like he does the corner he’d be a dangerous player.

He’ll never be CJ at threes, but if he can hit open 3’s like Herb and finish around the paint like Herb as well, then a Dyson/Herb/BI/Trey/Zion lineup would be the ideal one.

That's awfully close to "re-evaluated in 4 weeks"

Dyson and Topic are basically bizarro versions of each other.

Dyson has elite Defensive potential, Topic has elite offensive potential.

Dyson's potential on offense is probably better than Topic's potential on Defense but...

Topic is already elite at 18 years old at playmaking. He is just an elite passer, especially to bigs, and elite at getting to the rim.

Topic's ability to get to the rim is really impressive. Kinda reminds me of SGA(obviously he wont be as good as SGA) in the way he just slithers through traffic at his own pace, keeps the defender on his hip and creates separation.

Not a great shooter from 3 right now but his high FT% and his midrange game make me think he'll turn into a good shooter

Teddy I know you watch enough Pels basketball to know this is a deceiving stat. How many times have we seen Dyson just completely screw up wide open baskets at the rim? Has he gotten better sure- but its always an adventure when Dyson goes to the rim.

Sample size? He is tentative at attacking the rim.

I agree, but he has definitely improved since last year.

Have to remember that he was 20 years old and he didn’t start playing against athletic American basketball players until he was 18. He’s still learning how to adjust to the length and athleticism.

Sure but the missed wide open layups I attribute more to confidence and just brain farts. Despite his age and especially the BB IQ he has on the defensive side- I never understood why offensively he has these issues.

Honestly, I think he's overthinking on offense, always worried about making THE right play. I think the offensive game will start to slow down for him soon and he'll start reacting more instinctively.
