I saw it at the theater. Great story and mostly true. Depressing as heck due to their true history. Movie was not well directed and the acting was mediocre. I’d watch it again though.

WTH happened to Zac Efron's face? He looks like Hasselhoff merged with Frankenstein.

Super depressing. Not what I thought it was about. Would not recommend.

Overall good. But I found that it was more like watching a re-enactment of terrible things that just happened as opposed to a drama with conflict and resolution. Sure, we get to that late in the film, but it felt too little too late for me.

i didn’t care for it. Lots of reasons it just didn’t connect. Tragic story that could have been told more impactfully.

It was like a longer and slightly better Dark Side of the Ring episode.

A sad case where they had to leave out parts of the actual family history to make a depressing film less depressing.

And that the leg was amputated only after the father forced his son to get back in the ring when the doctors had told him it was way too soon.

Yeah, the one thing the old school wrestling guys have said was that the movie made Fritz much more of a gentleman than he ever was in real life.

And he wasn’t exactly given a soft edit in the film.

1. Came out in December. Little weird to have a thread on it now.

2. Well done, well written. Decent acting.

3. Horrible casting. Particularly the midget they picked to play Kerry.

4. Very disappointing that Chris was left out. They literally left him out of the movie. I get that he wasn’t a good wrestler, but he tried. It’s like he didn’t exist. How hard would it have been to depict the family correctly?

I said that but after thinking more, I think it’s a good movie if you have no preconceived notions of the real Von Erichs because the casting is so off.

I grew up watching them so I honestly couldn’t get past it. It was a huge distraction. Wife did not and she liked it more.
