I definitely wasn't expecting the reveal about how the war started. If that's in the games, I never got that far.
Its not in the games, but my understanding is that Bethesda signed off on it so it’s the lore now. It’s causing a divide.

They should just cancel Last of Us after this show. It is so far below Fallout in every category, I don’t see how anyone will be able to watch that show.

I must have missed this. Who was the tranny?

I haven’t googled, but it was pretty obvious to me in episode 1 that his friend Dane in the brotherhood was a female.

I’m assuming he was it?

I thought she was a she but just gone military. Maybe I didn’t pay close enough attention.

Good point. I wasn’t sure if transsexual or just female in the military, but I knew Dane was a biological female one way or another

I can’t speak for everyone else, but this was the best series I’ve seen in a while.

Griselda is what I would have said best I’ve seen in the last year before this.

This was much more entertaining to me than Griselda though in a much different way though. Obviously quite different genres

Fallout has the Dharma from Lost “puzzle” combined with great individual storylines from GOT combined with end-of-the-world suspense and mystery from blockbuster movies. And all of it fairly realistic and not too far-fetched. Not to mention a sometimes confusing question of “who’s the good guys here?”

Again, I highly recommend this. It was good

I didn't really get the tranny vibe, I think she was just a butch chick in a military environment. What was the female marine name in Aliens? Similar character types.

Played 3,4 and new Vegas and just finished the series. Great adaptation and I like that they chose a new city, as that’s always what happens in the games. Seems the 3 main characters represent the different play styles/morality of players in the game. Survivalist role player, science/heavy armor beginner gamer , then gunslinger/veteran fallout player who’s just min maxing and the symbolism as that person as a ghoul is just great. The ghoul is giving me strong man in black vibes from west world. He’s trying to skip all the dialogue and get back to fricking shite up

Same. I didn't play any of the games. The story here stands on its own. The way everything came together in the last episode was amazing. Surprisingly great show.

It’s so cool when I don’t know about a series coming out, randomly find it while looking for something to watch, know nothing about it or what to expect …. Press play and get entertained. It’s a cool feeling.

Anyone else notice that some of the "CGI/AI-generated" stills that everyone was hand-wringing over a few months ago were likely from some of the title sequences at the end of each episode?

I could be misremembering, but I'd love to go back and see that footage again.

It’s been a theory of fans for years though. They didn’t exactly pull this one out of nowhere

I'm 3 episodes in and it seems to have slowed a little for me. Ep 1 was absolutely fantastic.

The only Fallout experience I had coming in was about 10 hours into the Fallout 4 game, which is almost nothing.

I am interested in finishing, though.

It picks back up big time. Your knowledge is fine for the show. The only thing you’re missing is the little Easter eggs they hide in every episode and if you have played the games you can anticipate some of the story beats. Why couldn’t Amazon be this faithful to Tolkien?

I was surprised that my wife couldn't stop watching it. This has mainstream appeal way beyond the typical gaming/scifi audiences and is going to be a hit show. Walton Goggins is awesome as usual, and Ella Purnell seems like great casting too. Well cast, great production value, good story is a recipe for success.

Yeah, it may have never been confirmed that they started the war but Vault Tec has always been an evil corporation that had their influence on much of the society.

Connecting it with the Enclave really isn't much of a stretch

If you're wanting to learn more about the region they're in, Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas cover this region of the country (as opposed to F3, which is in DC, and F4, which is in Boston).

It was something I suspected since the second one. We never got a lot of info on the world governments, but Vault-Tec was everywhere. Also, the games are a takedown of capitalism run rampant. What could be more despicable (or right up Vault-Tec's alley), than nuking the world for profit.

Either Tolkien's estate is into the whole DEI thing, are complete pushovers when enough money is waved around, or Amazon actually learned its lesson and turned the PC throttle down to 10% instead of 90%.
