There was about a ten year period where Kevin Bacon always played the bad guy in films. The two that I remember most are Wild Things and Sleepers. But I know there were more. He was such a good villain. There was an every day menace to his portrayals that really stuck out.

Wild Things only reveals him as a villain at the end.

He is portrayed as a heroic protagonist until about the last 10 minutes.

And while I like Wild Things and Sleeper, I was unbelievably disappointed by Hollow Man.

His role as Jack Swigert in Apollo 13. He knew that oxygen tank was going to blow on that cryo-stir.

Aw, man. I love Hollow Man. It's fairly silly at times, but I remember seeing it in theaters and liking it. And I rewatched it last year and still really enjoyed it. Elizabeth Shue was looking fine too.

It seems like less than the sum of its parts given who appeared in it and who directed it.

I love Paul Verhoeven for Robocop, Total Recall, and Starship Troopers. He obviously has sci-fi chops. But he underwhelmed with this outside of the Superman joke in the film.

I went to high school w/his nephew. The Bacon Brothers band played at our spring fest one year. They were ok.
