Only a matter of time before the NFL starts having games on PPV like they do for MMA and boxing.

Greatest commissioner in American sports history. Excited to see the innovations that Netflix brings.

I feel like I'm asking a dumb question but I'll ask anyway. So is Netflix exclusively streaming the NFL Christmas Day games or will they still be on local channels plus Netflix?

It appears that they are exclusively doing so, however I *believe* the local markets of the teams playing will be able to air on an over the air channel (I could be wrong)

I can almost guarentee it will be a netflix exclusive.
Its amazing how much the NFL and MLB love making it harder to watch their games.

In keeping with the NFL’s long-standing holiday tradition, the Netflix Christmas Day games will air on broadcast TV in the competing team cities, and be available on US mobile devices with NFL+.

Wow so basically exclusive rights except in the teams hometown. That sucks since I don't subscribe to Netflix

I have NFL+, but I may just subscribe to Netfilx for a month to just watch those games.

You underestimate how many Netflix subscribers are in the US

There are 2 people in this thread not subscribe to Netflix.
Making that exactly 2 people I know that don't have Netflix

People have predicting this for 40 years. It became the top league because the games were on broadcast TV. That doesn’t automatically translate to every one paying for games. Maybe if they allowed you to buy all the games for a certain team but i don’t think avg fans would pay games their team isn’t involved in. Sports bars will but are the masses willing to pay a cover to see Bills-Rams on a Thursday?

Damnit I hate this trend.

Makes me wonder what's in it for Netflix.
Same with Amazon Prime. They have a lot of market saturation already. Hard to imagine this will bring in enough new subscribers to justify paying the NFL for the games. Unless they don't pay the NFL very much, in which case you have to wonder why the NFL is giving up the ad revenue for broadcast games.

The NFL is what it is because it was always over the air
Not forward thinking. Money now now now. But eventually no one will be left to actually watch.
Look at boxing dying. Like four people got rich off killing the entire sport.
