Is it time for Ohtani to shelve pitching and forget being a two way player?

Offensively in this Dodgers lineup he's a key cog and with Dodgers pitching depth do you really need him on the mound in the future?
It's the pitching side that is making it hard for him to stay healthy. Why risk someone as valuable on offense.

WTF you never have too many pitchers… they didn’t sign Ohtani to be a hitter only at that price

It’s not going to happen. In fact, I won’t be shocked if he returns to the mound this year. Remember, Ohtani didn’t get Tommy John Surgery. He had an internal brace put in his elbow which has a much shorter recovery time than TJS. Rich Hill had the same procedure a few years ago and was able to return in ten months.

I think long term Ohtani is best used as a 6th starter or as a closer

He’s hurt pitching wise right now yet still doing all the things you mentioned offensively

this is dumb
1. he’s has hit in a season where he didn’t pitch. He is currently hitting in a season he didn’t pitch. he has played 100+ games every year besides the covid year.
2. UCLs are extremely
important when throwing a baseball. But when non throwing athletes get a UCL injury they usually don’t even get surgery.

Anyone thinks he has a good shot at MVP over Betts?

Look at his career OOPS and ERA. He's up there with the best pitchers in baseball, and some of the best of the past (e.g., Pedro Martinez).
That said, it's possible the Dodgers may have a different plan after the injury, but pitchers are extremely valuable in baseball. So it would make sense to have him on the mound in some capacity if he's still at, or even just somewhere near, that high of a level.

He’d be better served to shelve gambling.

Did you see what they paid him? They paid him to be one of the best hitters in baseball as well as one of the best pitchers in baseball. You don't give a guy that kind of money unless he is generational. Which, Ohtani happens to be the one guy that that term actually applies to.
