No 12-18 team should ever be considered for the postseason. Especially one that is the 11th team in a 14-team league.

What does this have to do with being in the top 64 of the country?

What will be interesting is if the records after this weekend are

LSU 35-21 12-18
Ole Miss 28-26 12-18
Florida 27-27 12-18

Very possible with LSU and UGA winning home series 2-1.

UF with series win over Tigers
Tigers with series win over OM
UF and OM did not play

SECT wins may be a deciding factor, but I don’t know much about what committee considers the most.

If Florida ends that way and then loses in the SECT they will have an overall losing season.

I absolutely disagree. More than half of the SEC is guaranteed to finish with a losing record in conference play. This is arguably the deepest the SEC has ever been, and they eat each other alive in conference play. We beat the #1 team 2/3 at home, and were one bad inning away from potentially sweeping them and you don’t think we would belong in the post season?

You should personally drive to Oxford and revoke their 2022 CWS trophy.

They won 14 games. If LSU was able to win 14 they wouldn’t have to worry about all this other BS

They were 13-17, and lost their first game in the SECT and were the last team in the tournament

I think you’re missing some midweek games.

Ole Miss plays at Southern Miss tonight. That’s not exactly a guaranteed win, I don’t think? For all the talk about UF possibly finishing <.500 I’m a bit surprised nobody has talked about Ole Miss.

They are currently 27-24. If they lose to Southern Miss they would be 27-25 going into the LSU series. I know a sweep is unlikely but if we pulled it off they would be 27-28 and would need at least two wins in the SECT to be eligible for the NCAAT. Hell if we got 2/3 they would be 28-27 which would mean they need to either lose in the opening round of the SECT or win two games.

Maybe I’m missing something. Regardless it seems like LSU needs some dominoes to fall.

When seven teams in your conference host Regionals, there will be some solid teams in the #s 9/10/11 slots.

Is the baseball tournament like march madness, like all conference tournament winners make the NCAA tournament ?

Lol. Our non conference SOS is 138. We lost to Southern, Xavier, and Stonybrook.

If this plays out like you say and Ole Miss goes to Hoover at 28-27 and lose the first round game, they are not eligible for post season as a .500 team. I know its an extreme long shot for us to get in at 12-18, but if Ole Miss and Florida are not eligible because of their overall record, that can only help our case.

I hope they get in just to revisit this later.

All 3 12 win teams that got in were 12-17 because they missed a game. LSU isn't getting in at 12-18.

I think this season is a bit different, but okay then let's hope for a rainout on Saturday.

If you need all of these scenarios and metrics to get invited to a regional, you don't deserve to be going.

No one is arguing we are a good team. And it would be impossible to have a 64 team field without including a handful of average/poor teams. Which means those scenarios and metrics are exactly what is needed to determine who those teams will be.

Now if you don't think their should be a 64 team tournament, that is another discussion.

Well the first domino fell. They lost to Southern Miss last night so they’re sitting at 27-25 right now.

For clarity, does being .500 disqualify them or does being below .500 disqualify them? If they cant get in as a .500 team, then they would need to win 2 games in Hoover if LSU wins this series.
