and pay what the market dictates

This isn’t how it works anyway. Some teams are just worth more to play for so you should take less. Not everyone is equal when it comes to developing NFL players. Not everyone is equal when it comes to playing for championships. Not everyone is equal when it comes to coaching. Maybe LSU needs to get better at communicating that message if anything.
If these kids can’t take that into account then that just shows me they know they have no future and want all the money they can get now. We don’t want those players on this team. We want real NFL players. We might have to start paying more but at least pay the right player that type of money.

In many situations, yes. But in a situation where you then have to perform to a certain level, no.
In your real estate analogy, it’s a place where you live. That’s it.
In a football player, there will be a measurable result that proves where you were on a productivity level.
Completely different situations and a very poor comparison.

So what you’re saying is that the AD should step in and suggest to a Head Coach that he’s treading on thin ice because another school that’s been irrelevant for 25 years offered a DT 1million $ to come play on the DL for 4 months and leave. What would the other players that were recruited by said coach for far less money and actually have been here a minute. Dude this is an organization consisting of about a 120 members(staff, players etc).
We have a problem at DL right now but I guarantee they’ll figure it out.
Chill for second, there’s a plan that us on the outside aren’t privy to.

Period. Not what a coach or fan base thinks you are worth. Why is a small apartment in NYC so expensive and that same place in BR cheap? Market. Until we are willing to come to grips with that and pay what the market dictates we will not get players
Ok, money bags

Would you pay $90K for a Corolla just because it was one of the last cars on the lot? Would that make it "market price" going forward?

they pay a scrub $1m, 84 other people will enter the portal in 8 months all requesting the same payout.
Dudes on different teams talk… it’s gonna be a lot more than 84

Each buyer is part of the market and must decide what they want and how much they are willing to pay for it. Some people are willing to pay 100k for a truck, many are not. Worth is in the eye of the beholder.

OU just paid a guy 1.5 million and you act like our players don’t know that we can’t afford that.
Should OU tamper with broke-LSU from now on and encourage our top 5 players to enter portal?
Both teams know we aren’t in the NIL game for keeps.

The NIL market is skewed by people who are bad with money and impatient. The market would come down if they refused to pay high $$$

He didn’t promise. He said he expects. That is different. Stop being a child. Expectations change. We missed on TP players in year two. We had bad defensive coaches in years 1 and 2. And you only think the team is bad because media has told you. You haven’t watched practice nor have the knowledge to know what’s good or bad of you had watched.

Ed O and Miles took over strong programs with deep rosters.

Yep.
What Kelly inherited was probably worse than what Saban did, just due to quantity.

No one is denying that. It’s year three though and there’s the transfer portal
Posted on 5/5/24 at 1:25 pm to Draco Malfoy
And we're now on our 5th defensive line coach since the 2022 bowl game.

Maybe he should have made better hires? The Lindsey hire was baffling
Posted on 5/5/24 at 1:48 pm to Draco Malfoy
Name a coach that would have been a better hire at that time and explain why they would have been better.
Posted on 5/5/24 at 1:48 pm to KyrieElaison
Actually, the winners are the ones who outsmart the market. They find value.
Minnesota overpaid for Herschel Walker and handed Dallas the keys to those great 90s teams.
There is not a salary cap in college football, but there is a very real limit to resources.

Bo Davis for obvious reasons. Then there are plenty more as Lindseys resume was not impressive
