Interesting note: He will have 3 years of eligibility at LSU. Was injured after 5 games last year.

I’m stoked by this signing. Especially without an open scholarship. They must’ve promised him a scholarship next year, unless someone else is walking on. 247 rated him as the #4 JUCO transfer. They said some nice things that are backed up by the highlights.

The No. 4 JUCO prospect in the 247Sports rankings, Boyde averaged 10.9 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game last year in 31 games and 27 starts. At 7 feet and 240 pounds, Boyde instantly walks in and becomes LSU's biggest player on the roster. He will help with rim protection and rebounding more than anything, though he does have some nice touch around the rim.

Those stats are based on 22 minutes per game. Extended to 40 minutes, his stats would be close to 20 points, 3 blocks and 16 rebounds. That’s against weaker competition, but still outstanding.
Dandy Don said he has only been playing basketball for 3 years, so he is still very raw, and should get better with good coaching. I wouldn't expect much from him next season, but I think he can provide a few minutes per game, however he looks very smooth and has decent athleticism, and seems to have good mechanics, so he could develop into something special.
