I'm getting more busy with work and other things, and just in general decreasing my time online. I'd rather someone else just take over than not have it get updated in a timely manner.
I'll still post, but much less frequently.

I'll gladly post updates for every pitch Aiden Moffett throws this summer again

#17 Cam Caminiti
#23 William Schmidt
#85 Boston Bateman (up 34 spots)
#119 Derek Curiel
#133 Cade Arrambide
#177 Kale Fountain
#202 Michael Ryan
#219 Mavrick Rizy (up 137 spots) - a note was made he will be difficult to sign away from LSU
#347 David Hogg II
#406 Casan Evans
#468 Ryan Costello
LSU Players
#29 Tommy White
#50 Luke Holman
#98 Thatcher Hurd
#105 Gage Jump

#385 Fidel Ulloa
#423 Gavin Guidry
#478 Josh Pearson

Boston Bateman gaining lots of steam going into the draft.
Curiel and Arrambide both falling a bit going into the draft. Seems we may have a shot at those guys. Curiel more than Arrambide IMO but seems like in a lot better position for Arrambide than 6 months ago.

I think Herring is the most important draft piece we have. Really need to find a way to make it worth his while to stay one more year.

I see a path where Braswell signs. He’s a junior and he’s improved in every category in SEC play. Unless he plans on coming back to hit 10-15 homers I don’t know if it benefits him.

Coaching carousel expected to start up today. That means the portal will start up today.

It will be interesting to see how Jay attacks the portal. I was looking at our potential team next year based on current roster and incoming freshman class, I'm not seeing a bunch of holes.
We have catchers, infielders, outfielders and with the addition of Noot, Shores, expected development of Cam Johnson and the freshmen class we are not in bad shape at all.
I don't think there is anything we need to get in the portal. The question will be how much can we get?
Previous portal years were Jay filling holes, with little player attrition. I think this year will be more about getting impact players and forcing some attrition. That sucks for the players being forced out, but it is where we should want our program to be from a talent perspective.

No holes? I see a few but I think we’ll add 5-7 impact guys

They will absolutely add an impact bat to replace white.

I definitely think you can say that starting pitching is a hole, considering there is a lot of hoping that guys will come back from injury and/or be developed in to what we expect them to be.
It will be interesting to see how he plays the portal with fielders, too. If you move on from Braswell, you are replacing the entire left side of the infield and 1B. We are also returning a group of outfielders with only 1 of them being a .300+ hitter from this season. We’ve got plenty of talented guys that might take the next step, and there are some freshman that are capable of playing right away, but it’s still a lot of wishful thinking.

It's wishful thinking for sure. I assuming everyone develops and we hold onto some draft eligible players, like Herring, Jones and Braswell.
Starting pitching: Shores, Herring, Johnson, Moffett, Noot, Anderson, Guidry has been mentioned.
Infield: Braswell, Milan, Kucherak, Roelig
Outfield: Larson, Brown, Mitchell, Kling, Pearson Fry
Catcher: Neal
That's not including an outstanding freshman class.
This year, we needed a SS and starting pitching. Those were holes we needed to fill, We won't be in that position next year.
We go after the best players in the portal but I think it will be more about talent than need.

Question will Jay be willing to trust again this year that the younger guys will improve and make the jump? He did this past year and several didn't which is one of the reasons we're in the position we're in.
Posted on 5/15/24 at 2:06 pm to N2daWild
See I view that list having holes of proven talent. Assuming development is fine, however, this year that didn’t work. Jay won’t end up there again.
Neal = defensive liability with offensive tools
Nothing proven in Kucherak and Roellig.
Brown, Mitchell, Kling, and Frey really all unproven. Pearson inconsistent.
Starting pitching has holes.
To me, holes are spots where you don’t have proven players and you know what you are getting. They can be filled with development but until then this team has plenty holes to fill next year

He knows he can't do that again.
I think he's going to attack middle infield pretty hard, do everything he can to keep Jones at LSU and become the focal point of the lineup in 2025. As Project said months ago Fountain looks like a true 3B which LSU hasn't had in some time. With Milam stepping up big time I don't think they are in a terrible spot but they need to add 1-2 more shortstops.
The outfield will be fine.
Between Neal, Priester, and hopefully Arrambide they should have pretty good depth with actual offensive production.

From what I have read, he has mixed reviews on the defensive side. Some say he can stick at 3B at the MLB level and some say he will end up at 1B only. I think Tommy White's improvement defensively at 3B could be a pitching point from Jay to get him to campus.

I remember Theriot saying he thinks Michael Ryan from Rummel can be a guy who can step in and play day 1 at LSU. I think Theriot also coached him at Traction, so some biased is likely there. Did anyone get to see a good bit of his game this season and say if he has the capabilities to step in day 1 and compete or is he more of a year 2-3 guy?

New 2024 HS guy to monitor: Everett Denny from Jesuit in NOLA.

Looks like he has played every position on the field at Jesuit. Decent sized kid listed as 6-2 185 lbs.
Twitter shows his end of regular season stats as
.425/.600/1.216
6 2Bs
1 3B
3 HR
21 RBI
31 Runs
14 SB
31 BBs
Also struck out 38 in 38.1 IP from the mound. Sounds like he is a pretty good athlete.

With the way the SEC is getting older and older it's getting more and more difficult for these freshmen to come in and play everyday. I love Ryan's glove, extremely advanced base runner, he's going to be a 1-2 year guy.
