Does anyone know why David Hogg has fallen so much?

MLB.com Mock Draft
MLB.com latest mock draft has 3 LSU signees taken in the 1st round. I don't think we ever realistically had a shot at getting Griffin or Caminiti to campus. Would be massive if we could somehow entice at least one of these guys to come here.

Kyrin Leblanc committed to Texas
Posted on 5/6/24 at 10:26 am to Datsmoneydude
He looked like he was leaning to us because he kept following more of our coaches and liking LSU stuff. But one of his most recent follows was the Texas NIL collective.
And still, with no public information available, it's hard to know if we even offered him a spot. I assume we did, but there is no way to know.

I need to do some digging on potential portal arms as far as weekend rotation guys we think might hit the portal.
Posted on 5/6/24 at 11:26 am to Datsmoneydude
Early in the season I looked at a couple guys from Long Beach State, they have two sophomores in their weekend rotation. Haven't looked in a few weeks.
Jacob Mayers is a common name from Nicholls, he just walks so damn many people.
Evan Chrest from Jacksonville was a draftee out of high school and A-Sun freshman of the year, but his sophomore year hasn't been great.
ETA: I don't like having to go to the portal every year for starters, but I think it's still going to be necessary. We don't know what Shores will be like when he comes back. And we don't know if Herring is going to stick around or go pro. Anderson still needs some seasoning. Johnson still needs some work.
ETAA: I have to think South Florida makes a coaching change this offseason. Based on numbers alone, the guy I'd look at on their pitching staff is Chandler Dorsey.

I don't post about players we're not connected to very much. I just saw a kid on twitter from Cisco JC throwing 98-99 and touching triple digits. Kyrin Leblanc is a RHP from St Martinville that plays at Cisco currently. I saw some indication he may be committed to Texas State, but I didn't see any reference to it on his Twitter.
I see a video that claims he's throwing up to 104 mph.
Also, a FB post within the hour indicates that he is verbally committed to the Univ. of Texas. Trying to locate more info.

He tweeted out his commitment to Texas yesterday. I was hoping we would get him.
It might be time for Clean follow up. You could see how active we were in his recruitment. It looked like we were on him from the outside and that the Texas commitment was a little out of nowhere. But there is so little transparency in baseball recruiting, it's tough to know.

This one will be a tricky decision if they are on him. One of the biggest issues with this current LSU team is how some of the more talented guys have issues throwing strikes.
Mayers was better last season as a freshman. He has been walking entirely too many like you said. Already has more walks this season than he did last season with around 15-20 less IP. The last few weeks they have used him in relief in the midweek games and starting him on Fridays. Not sure that is a smart idea on their coaches part. Seems less rest would only make the control a bigger problem. His pitch count makes it tough for him to make it through 5 innings with the control issues.

New summer assignment found:
Nic Bronzini will be pitching for the Walnut Creek Crawdads in the California Collegiate League.
It's a good league. Hopefully he's allowed to throw a ton of innings and work on his command.

His walk rate is truly absurd this year. I’m not sure I’ve actually seen it from a semi successful starter. 56 walks in 53.2 IP is just wild.

Can get away with it at that level and still have some successful starts when the stuff is what it is. Move to the SEC and the stuff isn't as dominant to hitters and those walks are a complete different story. Basically Hurd for us right now.

It looks like we're sending incoming players to the Marshalls League in Utah again this summer. John Pearson is on their league roster right now. They haven't populated the team rosters yet. I assume he's not the only one that will play there.

My guess is we pulled Victorian offer
He got kicked out at Barbe for pulling a knife on asst coach

That story has been covered in detail on this board, as has my reason for not removing him from the list yet. It’s clear from your post on the rant that you will bring zero value to this thread so feel free to forget it exists and never post in it again.
