As mentioned, passenger front window does not operate on the driver door control switch, but will work from the switch connected to the driver door. I'm guessing this would be possibly some sort of fuse/relay problem particular to the driver door?

In my car I cannot find any specific fuses related to just the driver front door or any windows. Only several fuses that overlap and control the power windows completely.

Bad switch maybe?

Bad switch
Most likely just the switch going out on the driver's side. It works fine using the passenger controls?

Correct. At one point the switch was intermittently working. So it makes sense now that it's just a bad switch. Going to see if I can replace just the single switch or if I have to replace the entire thing.

Go to Rock Auto and get you a new switch.

Noticed my eclipse driver side window is not closing completely anymore. The last couple of inches would normally auto close upon closing the door or using the switch on the door. Neither work now so the window stays open a couple inches. Not even tugging on the window works.

The window does raise/lower, just not the last couple of inches to close.

If one switch works and the other does not, its likely a bad switch. Some are super easy and cheap to replace, others are not.

I just did it on my wife's car. Our two rear seat switches would not work and the driver's switch worked intermittently. Replaced the driver switch and they all work now. So its not always the bad switch, must be a relay or whatever in the main switch.

The driver front door controls all the windows. The only switch that does not work correctly on that set of switches is the passenger front door window switch.

The passenger front door has a window switch that works fine.

Swap the two switches. See if the problem moves with it.

aah, I got it. What kind of car is it? I had a similar problem with my subaru outback. The dealership had a way of resetting them by holding a couple of the switches open or closed for a few seconds or something. It was a continuing problem that they had to fix every time I brought it in because inevitably it would get weird again (different windows not working). This started the week after I bought it new and continued until it was totaled a couple of months ago. I got a Tundra. No issues. And I'm straight again.

I went ahead and bought contact cleaner, brushed the cleaner on the connections with a q tip. No change.

The switches are strange. One is a 3 prong connection, while the other has at least 12? I'm guessing the first connection controlled the side view mirrors/child lock while the other connection controlled the windows themselves. I couldn't differentiate what was what because I don't know what each colored wire does. There are way more wires than switches as well.

It's an OT "favorite" Altima.

I have tried a couple "reset" methods suggested on YT and forums that don't do anything. Earlier today I just button mashed that one button until something happened. It dropped the window down about 1mm. Couldn't get it to do anything else. I went ahead and got a new (to me) control that should be in tomorrow morning thanks to Amazon.

This is what I was getting at. With a subaru, if you change the battery you have to go the passenger seat window control. Using the passenger seat window control, you roll the window down and hold the button until you hear a click (about 5-7 sec later). Then you roll the window back up and hold the button until you hear another click.

After that, the passenger window control button located at the driver's seat will function again.

I have only ever seen this in a subaru before but worth asking for sure.

Had this issue on a Silverado. Bought a new switch but when removed the old one saw the copper contacts just needed to cleaned. If have not already YouTube switch removal for your vehicle.

I have had this problem many times with my 2008 Silverado. Dust and dirt gets in the switch at the point where the little metal button glued to the rubber flex sheet touches the contacts on the circuit board. The dirt makes what I would describe as a tiny booger and prevents the circuit closing.

You need to take the switch apart and either gently scrape it or use the contact cleaner. Cleaning the connector prongs won’t likely fix the problem. Buying a new switch is the sure way to fix it.

the switches get dirty, all you need to do is go watch the youtube video on how to clean the contacts with rubbing alcohol and it will work like new again.

dont just go run out and buy a new switch for nothing, try taking it apart and cleaning it first

i had to clean the switches in both of my trucks, its a pretty common thing needed with older vehicles
