Apparently Sweet Baby Inc was heavy in this game.
So expect dozens of trans and gay black people in feudal Japan. . .and the villain will definitely be a straight white colonizers.
Gonna be worse than Valhalla.

Also, they don't go around injecting DEI into every game they can. A developer goes to them when they've already decided to include that in their game and SBI helps them flesh it out.

DEI consultants.
Ruin everything they touch. They were responsible for the story and the character bios for Suicide Squad.
They're job is LITERALLY to "woke" shite up to devs can get ESG monies.
Even on games that were decent, their contributions stand out as horrible.
They were the reason MJ got urged up, and near everyone of Miles' friends were gay
They race-swapped the chick in Alan Wake 2
They made the norse goddess black in GoW Ragnarok.
I am not inclined towards "anti-woke" figgotry, but SBI is definitely a line in the sand for me.
They are besties with Kotaku and Alyssa Mercante, if that tells you anything.

It is more to do with getting ESG funding. Have to have a high enough score, so they get "woke-ifiers" like SBI, BGG, GaymerX, etc. to help them get the necessary score.

You know, 15 years ago if some conservative had told me slippery slopes and all that, I would’ve said the same that my life isn’t in any danger and here we are today.
There seems to be a sizable contingent of people that don’t want this shite stuffed into their games to further an agenda so a stand is being made. People ought to be able to know before they pay $60 for a game whether or not it’s likely to be there or not. That’s what’s happening here. So the dozens of you that don’t care can continue to pay up if you want.
Personally, if SBI is involved in this game I’ll wait it out and hear reviews instead of buying an AC game day 1 that I’ve wanted since black flag came out. That’s a bummer because when I read this was supposedly set in Japan it got me excited. They probably wouldn’t have made a better game than Ghost of Tsushima anyway

I will make this last point.
Ubisoft games have this disclaimer, for as long as I can remember, and you can literally romance every character in Odyssey and Valhalla regardless of which protagonist you choose. Why is this game all of the sudden going to be so much worse?
No, I would never play a game that was straight up about trans characters having a good old time, but in general with games, as long as the character is well written, have at it.

I have no issue with diverse characters in games. I am among the few that enjoyed Deathloop.
When a character is great, was developed organically, and also happens to check boxes. . .that is fine. Gay vamp from BG3 is a great example.
My issue is the "we need to make a black/gay/trans character to check a box" or the "since we can't make a gay/trans/black character worth a frick, let's change an existing character to that and make it their primary identity"
That is all Sweet Baby and BGG, and to a lesser degree GaymerX, does.

The male protagonist was on a slave ship, it was attacked, he was the only survivor, was taken back to Japan, and learned the way of the Samurai ala Tom Cruise. The female character is Japanese.
I saw the leak and laughed so hard because I knew the gamers were going to lose their shite, ,predictably.
If the story is good, this should be great.
