Just reported by WVUE in N.O.

Huval said porch roof came off and damaged the dance hall. Hopefully the restaurant won't be affected too much.

I love their Crawfish Bisque (although I haven't had it in a while).

Isn’t that just “Pat’s” in Henderson? “Pat’s of Henderson” is the one in lake charles?

He says he hopes to reopen in a month. That would be miraculous from the looks of things.

quote:

“In 30 seconds, a lifetime of working is gone,” Pat’s owner Harvey Huval said as he surveyed the holes in the roof. “Thirty seconds. You never know in life.”

“We’ve had floods and high water, but this is a different animal. Pretty much devastation,” Huval said. “The roof of my hotel is gone, and it probably has to be gutted.”

The restaurant might be able to open in a few months, Huval said, but he worries whether repairs and reopening are worth it. Repairs to the hotel will take much longer.

“We’ve been here since 1948, but something like this can put you out of business,” Huval said.
The story in the Acadiana Advocate sounded much less hopeful.

Wow. Definitely a different response. I've seen some of his posts on Facebook that they are strong Cajuns and will be back. This article goes in another direction. I hope they can rebuild and reopen.

It looks like the restaurant faired the best of all the buildings. The dancehall roof needs repair, and the hotel looks like it may not be salvageable.

I haven’t been there in a really long time. Hope they’re able to rebuild. That place is great. I concur the crawfish bisque is outstanding

The crawfish bisque and camp style etouffee are solid. The other stuff on the menu is hit-and-miss.
