No, I when I was chatting with them he said he could double the current stated offer of 25,000 pts after I spent $2k in the first three months. So, I got only 50k points with that one.
I got 25,000 pts with my Gold because I basically just bought xmas on it and got the $2k needed easily.
I guess my question wasn't presented clearly. I'm wondering if anyone has both. I can't really see the sense in keeping both except for one thing. The Gold gets me double and triple points on gas and grocery store purchases whereas the Platinum only gives me 1x on those same purchase. BUT, the Platinum gives me great perks when travelling. Maybe my Gold could be my everyday amex and my Platinum could be the one I use when travelling?

It can be worth it if you spend enough in the bonus categories for the gold. If you travel frequently the platinum pays for its self IMHO. I've thought about switching to it several times but like my Delta Card too much
