IGN can exclusively report that Horror, Inc. is expanding the Friday the 13th franchise into a new era with the launch of Jason Universe.

New Friday the 13th activations will span a wide range of platforms from entertainment, games, immersive experiences, merchandise and more to be announced throughout 2024 via @JasonUniverse13 on social media or by visiting the official Jason Universe website.

“For decades, Jason shocked and thrilled audiences who kept coming back for more. We’re excited to work with Victor Miller and Marc Toberoff on new projects we’ll announce in the coming months,” said Robert Barsamian, President of Horror, Inc., in a statement provided to IGN.

Added Robbie Barsamian, VP of Horror, Inc.: “We’re focused on honoring the legacy while elevating the fan experience and appealing to today’s horror audiences as we develop new ways to watch, interact and engage with the Jason Universe.”

As far as the games go unless it's a new version or simply keeping the old version of the current asymmetric horror game I don't fricking want it. Even w/all the issues it had it's still the best game in that genre by a country mile.

I was always partial to Jason over Freddy or Michael Myers (although Halloween was the best movie out of the lot), but I just don't see enough there for an expanded universe. I mean the movies alone are stale and repetitive.

I think that game is deader than shite because of the rights issues.

I agree, SlowFlowPro.

We're talking about a movie made over 40 years ago on a shoestring budget about a guy in a mask with mommy issues who kills teenagers at a summer camp.

There's not a lot of layers there. This ain't Shakespeare. Enough already.

This 100%. Friday the 13th has the highest batting average of good movies in a long running franchise (definitely more so than Halloween and Nightmare)

But this news is hilarious because it reeks of trying to catch up. Victor Miller and Sean S. Cunningham have been so greedy with the IP and suing each other over what is theirs, that they have lost even more money by not capitalizing on one of the most iconic horror characters in over 15 years.

I know the reboot gets some bit of hate especially among the purists but I’m just going to say it’s my favorite of the franchise. The horror, the kills, and just Jason himself all comes together so damn well. We even get to see Jason’s mom in the opening scene.

Also Jenna’s death was absolutely one of the biggest shocks I’ve seen in a slasher film not counting the first Scream

Yeah, the 80’s when they were spitting them out targeted at Gen X, and as kids in the 90’s the millennials were exposed to Friday the 13th on USA late at night. Must watch tv at sleepovers amongst my group of friends.

2009 was a fun movie, I was hoping there was going to be a bunch of follow-ups like Texas chainsaw massacre got.

I mean as far as slashers go there’s not a lot of big twists aside from the Scream movies

Bring back the fun of Jason X. When the franchise gets into the Jason Lives portion of the series, it’s amazing. The original 4 or so are in my opinion super boring and lame.

I actually agree with you on this.
