Debates are bullshite, anyway.
You're going to have a moderator who talks over Trump, interrupts him incessantly, cuts out mics arbitrarily, if there is an audience it will be screened and tilted and then you will have a spin machine framing the debate after it's over. No matter how you put it on, no one is going to accept what's said. It will be Biden repeating the talking points coming through an IFB and Trump shouting over a biased moderator.
The real debate is the battle of spin machines, podcasts, blogs, new media and traditional media outlets. Putting on the Trump vs Biden circus will be about as interesting as it was the last time.

Trump shouldn’t accept the debates.
However, it appears he is calling the Dems’ bluff on this, at least by agreeing to the dates. I think they figured he would reject it out of hand.

Brandons campaign is desperate. Even a juiced-up Biden will look like a fool trying to lie about his record. They are throwing a Hail Mary that Trump will look like a bully while abusing poor old senile Joe.

I agree. I actually do not mind his demands one bit. I'm surprised they didn't have demands about sitting down or specific time limits.
But why do moderators always have to be media people? I understand you need a media outlet to do the production, but why can't you get a proferssor or debate expert who isn't a tv host to ask questions?

Biden’s team knows that he has enough negatives as it is. RFK could very well play the role Jill Stein did in 2016. He isn’t going to win but he could pull enough votes from joe to flip “blue wall” states. They have to do everything in their power to make people forget that he’s an option. Appearances matter and being on a debate stage with the other two gives RFK legitimacy.

I don’t think Trump plans on doing any of this as much as trying to force team Biden to back away from their own proposal.
They made this set of demands without expecting he would ever agree to it, meaning they had no plan of following through.

I would prefer zero moderators. Have the microphone cutoff automatic. Each candidate gets to ask the questions.
