Springsteen doesn't have a single song that can hit you right in the heart/gut like Against the Wind or We've Got Tonight.

or make you change the radio dial faster than those two... those are pure schlock

He is a loud mouth tool currently that is tarnishing his legacy with crap new albums but he had a great run.

Not al all, despite having his best recorded work behind him (that I agree)... He is still a huge draw because his live shows are still top drawer!

Seger. Never been a Springsteen fan. I like a few songs, but generally not really.

I don't hate Springsteen. I just like Seger's music a lot better.

Born to run is a really good song.

I think the hate springs from Born in The USA

Sprinteen’s lyrics are more poetic while maintaining his common man roots. I like Seger fine, but Springsteen is more impressive as an artist to me.

In their primes, Seger always came off as more authentic.

I don't know about this. A huge part of Springsteen's early work is almost the definition of New Jersey in the 70's.

If anything, Springsteen was such a defining artist that his lyrics almost created a reality. Those first few albums informed how people view that region and time period to this day.

To me, that's extremely authentic. If Springsteen was less authentic it's in the mid-80's and beyond when he was still singing working man struggle songs after he achieved wealth and fame...but that's not his prime and it's hard to avoid for any artist.

I hardly ever come to the Music Board, but I really dislike Springsteen. So guess I came to the right place.

It’s no mystery, people no longer like Springsteen because of his politics. Given his political alignment, he gets a negative view.
