7/10 times, they will say "we install the fiber all the way to your home modem"

Maybe you, not others. Anyone who is particular about their LAN is going to want to know exactly if a NID, ONT and/or gateway is going to be installed. Where will those be installed and what will it take to get that run the correct location inside the house so preparations can be made.

Seems silly to be willing to spend somewhere around $8k on a service over 10 years and be willing to accept a poor install or poor performance because you just trusted someone whose only goal is to get in and out as fast as possible.
