BATON ROUGE, La. (KPLC) - A jury awarded $104 million to nine survivors of the deadly 2017 explosion at a DeRidder paper mill.

Three contract workers were killed and several people were injured in the explosion at the Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) facility on Feb. 8, 2017. The company was fined $2.5 million in 2022 for environmental violations in connection with the explosion.

Arnold and Itkin may be the best Plaintiff’s firm in the country right now. Not surprised.

Did any of the 7 who survived have any serious injuries or was it them simply just being there near the explosion that got them paid?

Boise is $5.2 bil market cap and PCA is $16 bil market cap. Both increased a lot in weeks after accident. Market didn't give a shite as long as making money haha.

I’ll just comment on the wtf moment as far as the lockout procedure went

How does no one not realize that there’s a level in that tank before even working on it? Or why wasn’t there a fire blanket at minimum?

That video was actually pretty dang informative. I now know how this process works.

Did the families of those that parished receive any type of settlement?

So, no one knew who was responsible for opening the valve that would have bled the turpentine off? Who is John Galt?

I'd like to see their DEI hiring record for supervision at that plant.

This will be mitigated at the 5th Circuit. This is the kind of thing you would expect out of CDC. But then again it's Judge Dick.

Some billboard lawyers would have had that case settled a long time ago for $104,000.
