How does market price of something on a menu at a restaurant work?
Do you ask the price before? Probably not. Seems tacky.
Do you just order it and trust the restaurant to be fair on the MP?
Do you just order it and you’re subject to paying whatever price they put on your bill?

It’s not tacky at all. You ask.

If you’re ordering something at market price you should probably just be okay with paying out the arse for whatever it is.

I don’t know but I fell for the special at Xochi in downtown Houston. The waiter didnt give the price and I didn’t ask. My entree was $59 while most menu items were around $30.

I'm not going to order something without knowing the cost if I'm not already unconcerned about price.

It's market price plus 50% for ordering something listed at marker price

All I know is last week I ordered blue crab claws at market price. It was supposed to be a dozen. We got somewhere around 32 claws. I was happy.

I've seen more wealthy people ask and middle class people not then complain after seeing the bill.

This is the chicken tender board. We don’t do no damn market price.

Just ask. Poor people worry about being tacky.

You ask like a fricking man.

If I’m paying I’m asking.

Depends on the situation.
If it's my wife ordering, I don't ask nor care. If I'm paying for a group (we always end up paying if it's a group) then I'm asking and possibly redirecting.
